2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted October 28, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 28, 2012 It is that time of year already. Clocks have changed, so mudguards on all club runs please. Only 5 months until they change back and the muddies can get taken off again!

KennyS
Except on the track or in the mud Not so sure that the club rules differentiate so it's muddies all round !!
Paul C
Note to those with 'short' rear mudguards. Can you please extend them so that the guy behind is also protected and not just the rider! I have cut a piece of plastic from an icecream tub and attached it with a couple of small bolts. 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted October 30, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 Except on the track or in the mud By track I meant velodrome (not cycle track) and by mud I meant cyclocross !! Was just highlighting the vast range of cycle related acttivities we can all indulge in these days. And I couldn't agree more - especially as one who cannot wear glasses - muddies all round for any road stuff ianjmcd and duncan thomson
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted October 24, 2013 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 24, 2013 Bump for winter 2013/2014. Starting this Sunday please (Sunday 27th Oct).
Richie Cross
What mudguards are you guys using? Over the last couple of winters I've tried recommended plastic ones that clip on but could never get them to fit perfectly. At the moment I've got metal (?) Acor ones which have metal guides. These are fine but might not be low enough down for some (Paul ) There also isn't a piece to go behind the seat tube so I still get spray up my leg. Cheers
Administrators Jannza Posted October 29, 2013 Administrators Report Share Posted October 29, 2013 On my winter bike I have full length ones from Dooleys which are brilliant, were about same price as race blades. Think they are Tortec. Other bike just has a rear that fits via the brake and has a quick release, was about £10.
Guest EPCC
Richie It's a bit of a hit and miss I put full mudguards on but I have eyelets Some have stuck on bits of washing up bottles on the rear to make them longer
Life Members chung Posted October 29, 2013 Life Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2013 Ritchie, If your winter bike don't have eyelids for mudguards, then get these: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/mudguards-road-crud-roadracer-mk2-mud-guards-pair/crudmudr105 I've been using these for the last 3 years, much better than the ones you've got on in my opinion. See you on the road mate! Cheers Chung
Richie Cross
Cheers. Chung....they're the plastic ones I was going on about. Could never get them to not be rubbing at some point
Life Members chung Posted October 29, 2013 Life Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2013 You just need to make sure your tyres are not bigger than 23mm, mine are 23mm tyres and works just fine with a bit of fettering around! If you can operate a machine gun, I'm pretty sure you can get these to work on your bike. :-) Chung
Mark O
If Ritchie can operate a machine gun then he doesn't need muddies!!!!!!!! . Packing an Uzi 9mm or an AK47 on a club run buys a pass.
Richie Cross
Mmm, good idea. Means I get to claim all the 30's!! Unfortunately, a machine gun would be overkill (no trust!!) so it's merely a semi auto, single shot carbine/sub machine gun I use 25's in the winter so maybe that's the flaw with the muddies! 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted October 29, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 29, 2013 Richie Yes 25mm becomes almost impossible with crud 2's. I agree with Chung though, these are excellent for 23's especially if you add a bit of chicken tikka carry out carton to extend the front guard ! No mudguards really work with 25's on a race geometry frame. chung
Paul C
I've just ordered a set of Crud 2s for Black Beauty - should have them tomorrow. My tyres are 23 mm.

Current tyres are 25's and my spare, new tyre I was planning to put on is a 25 so I'll have to lump,it for now
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted October 29, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted October 29, 2013 Richie, with the exception of the half length clip ons, they will be ok, 'Race Blades' I think they are called,
LenMcD
Yip. I got raceblades n 25 mm tyres. Not much space but ok.
