Committee Alan McLean Posted August 25, 2011 Committee Report Share Posted August 25, 2011 Hi Paul McDonald and I can commit to the team RR on 4th September at Falkirk. We need a minimum of two others but preferably a full team of six if at all possible. Can anyone else join us? Paul reckons it could be "quite fast" . I'll try to find details. Only a para on Braveheart at present. Could we even get two teams? We have quite a few higher cat racers now! Regards Alan
Committee Alan McLean Posted August 25, 2011 Author Committee Report Share Posted August 25, 2011 http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events ... -Road-Race) Found it. Did not realise it was a 60+ mile race open to Elites Still interested to see if we can get a late entry. Alan
KennyS
Alan, Where you getting your 'Elites only'? BC site says E,1,2,3 You still trying to navigate your way out The Bunch?
Committee Alan McLean Posted August 26, 2011 Author Committee Report Share Posted August 26, 2011 Didn't say "elites only", just "Elites". That's enough to worry me. I might be mad but I'm not insane.
Committee Alan McLean Posted August 27, 2011 Author Committee Report Share Posted August 27, 2011 Just reread this and realised it may have discouraged some of you. To clarify: This race is open to ALL riders from Cat 4 to Elites so expect a wide spread of ability. Hiding in the bunch will be strongly encouraged. Once we have sent Paul ahead into the break we can all relax. Thanks to those who have already PM'd. Any more to form a JWCC team please? Committee Alan McLean Posted August 31, 2011 Author Committee Report Share Posted August 31, 2011 I think we will have to abandon this attempt. Suggest we use arran as a training race for bute (nice island centric phrase, that) instead. Not sure about ferry timing. Awaiting clarification from DS McDonald. 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 31, 2011 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 31, 2011 There are a couple of threads going re Arran on Sunday. So here is the drill instruction, ferry 9.45 from Ardrossan, target ferry back if mission accomplished is 12.50, option of 2 short cuts if you must get the 12.50 ferry and the schedule is behind, otherwise next ferry is 16.50 I will likely ride down to ferry leaving Lochwinnoch 8.45 Pace line from the moment we ride off the ferry as average to be slightly over 20mph for the 2 hours 45 mins. First 15 miles hard but sensible and hold it together. Probably head north first depends on wind. Once over the climb to Lochranza its time to nick it up down the far side. Bring enough food and drink for the 56 mile part of the day as it will need to be non stop. Plenty time for coffee etc on the 2 boat rides. I think we have DS McD Alan mover and shaker McLean Darryl McG Davie B Billy mibees eye mibees no blame the alcohol McD Fergus Charlie - I'm up for it again Matt - sounds like I'm up for it as I've been volunteered Any more for this once in a lifetime experience ? FergusM
Just looking at the calmac website, is the return ferry we're going for at 1350 rather than 1250?
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted September 3, 2011 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 3, 2011 Top marks Fergus ! - that was a deliberate typo to see who was alert and on the ball, disclaimer - the above statement cannot be corroborated by an independent witness so you just have to believe me
