I've attached the Arran clockwise leaderboard on Strava. The 2hrs 36mins is definitely possible with a favourable wind. I'll be going over there soon on my Cervelo P5 and skin suit as soon as the weather improves.... Good luck guys.

Great turn out tonight and very enjoyable (came 3rd in sprint after taking the short-cut). Marc Kelly has even less shame, taking the short cut and winning the sprint. Bah!
Anyway seems there are people not happy with who we ride with and what we say in the JWCC, however I'm hoping the Thursday group can stay a broad church and cope with some levity.
Meantime going to ban myself from the Sewing Bee and Sunday groups (before I get banned). Be sad if Thursday nights went the same way as the official club rides.
    Excellent night.
    Cheers

Great to see so many out tonight. Top night for it.
Can't recommend the Thursday night bunch enough, get out early season and get those legs going. An added bonus of Ian Archibald having peaked in January once again, get out and see him getting dropped on the GT. A sight to behold!

Unfortunately not, away on business. Watch out for Mr A, he was stomping in the bogs bunch last night

We need an elder statesman with leadership skills to keep the pace moderate to the top of Bishy Hill. Or we could strap an HR monitor to Charlie with an alarm when it goes over 200bpm. Definitely think we should have a “no one gets dropped before the top of Bishy Hill” policy.

Chaingang starts up this week - due to daylight for the first few weeks meeting at 6pm at the bus stop usual place.
In the past on the way out along the Georgetown we've had a chilled start and ridden 2 abreast more like a club ride. Which is enjoyable however when the through and off starts at the red smiddy the pace picks up and is hard immediately. This means newcomers may not get much experience because with the fast pickup in speed it may only be one or two rotations before it becomes difficult to hang on (which in turn makes it difficult to learn and improve). So i propose we start riding as a chaingang from the start but at an easier speed and then from the red smiddy pick it up progressively and that will help everyone get the basics right. It is a training ride so this doesnt mean easy pace it should start to feel harder but the group should ideally not be splitting before Bishopton. Full gas from the top of Bishy Hill.

Points will be how it finished last year - Top 5 for the KOM  and top 5 for the sprint. This means more opportunities to get some points and should keep things closer at the top. Will be a winner for each month.
(KOM is 5,4,3,2,1 and sprint is 6,4,3,2,1).
The Flanders bound guys will be pleased to hear the first week is a practice run.

I jumped on to Strava to see if the 2019 Don Smith had taken Katie's and my KoM / QoM on the Lugton to Kilwinning segment. Whew. You guys need to start pushing your pedals a bit earlier next year. And can't believe we haven't a Jet could put Richie Provan to the sword. He's collecting some impressive KoM's - all that Spanish training with Billy...

Hope it’s not a rerun of the Milngavie cycle path. All that money spent and cyclists hate it, motorist hate it but it gives the local bureaucrats a nice warm feeling. The devil is in the detail: junctions and side roads.

Most unfortunate night for Sam who cracked front fork pre event, then Stevie discovered at sign on he had not entered. Leaving Cedric in A's, Jan in B's and me in C and millions of jets in various groups.
Cedric lighting up the A's as per, winning the elimination, Jan toughing out the B's again and getting in the action in the tempo, I was mediocre all night until the devil where I got a 2nd. When down to last 3 it was inspiring, a boy and girl with combined age of about 30 and me - this cycling can actually keep you young. At least it was a jet who won the race

There could be some KoM opportunities with a few well judged efforts in the 9 00 group. I'm tempted, but no, my flight is booked, have to go to Tenerife.

I'm praying for you Paul. You can escape the JWCC diseased and domestically distressed Sunday Bunch syndrome. Cold shower every morning and plenty turbo.

These KoM challenges threaten to corrupt my secret training program to win the sprints on the Georgetown next year. Can I suggest all the segments are left open all winter so I can win them when my periodisation cycle, wind direction and air density match in perfect alignment. Thanks.
I am currently working on long term mitochondria improvement.

Well my strategy of rolling through Largs meant i got dropped just after the top of the drag rather than at the bottom.  Wish i'd hung on a few seconds longer to pinch the KoM for the winter bunch!

Very smooth chain gang. Tidy too. Only one honk from a car all day. They must have thought we were pros.
Nevertheless it was sad to see Paul lie down for the 30mph Largs sprint. Seeing the photo of him in the Tour of Flanders thread with Graeme Herd and Drew Smith last century I guess after all these years he is finally losing it. Needed that push Paul btw.
    Thanks guys. Almost enjoyed it..
