  1. Up for either assuming my legs are ok after the track league
  2. Will have a look at these, presumably the old shooting railway is what the cycle track was later built on?
  3. Just a wee heads up if (like me) you were trying to put an entry in for the track league next week and couldnt do it - there is a message on braveheart forum that due to a mix up the entry isn't opening until Monday morning and they will be accepting entry on the night for this week.
  4. Yeah good evenings entertainment. Rowsell won the womens and Dowsett then mens. Not sure about the u23. Dowsett also had a pretty bad crash at the corner i was at.
  5. going to give it a miss this week and head over and watch the TT instead
  6. Alex Dowsett was in Paisley today taking his wheel into Dooleys to get fixed!
  7. Doubt i'll be able to get over in time for the women but hopefully be there to see most of the men Any idea on where a good viewing area would be?
  8. Will be there btw as a confined event does this mean it is £3 (or whatever the price is) to ride similar to the TTs on a tuesday night?
  9. Making estimates based on VAM rather than measured power data is quite difficult as it ignores the ebb and flow of a race, whether it was tempo being ridden or attacks, the wind direction, the size of the bunch and so on. Bit more detail here on some of the problems Vayers evidence has (it is from a couple of years back but i dont think his methodology has changed since then) http://www.sportsscientists.com/search?q=vayer
  10. Well done As a newcomer to all this sort of stuff it surprises me a bit that road racing doesn't have a similar thing to the accreditation that the velodrome has before you can race.
  11. 10, 40 and 50 lap scratch races and 50 lap points in the C tonight. Think I got a 2nd in the 10 lap and 3rd in the 50 lap scratch but it might have been a 4th. Points race i didnt have much left sprint wise so tried a breakaway and was out on my own for about 20 laps but that wasnt good enough. All that pain for nothing! Well done to both of you in the A's looked a tough night.
  12. Im in. Presumably the numbers will be quite low this week if the youths are saving their legs plus the road race on the same night
  13. Good night for it Got dropped coming out of Bishopton, got back on again on the sliproad and then got dropped again at Finlaystone. Took the shortcut then wheelsucked most of the way back with the elastic almost snapping a couple of times but made it along to see the sprint happening which is an improvement at least. Long, long way away from being able to make it up the Clune with the bunch though!
  14. Hope to be there and at least make it to the start this time!
  15. I'm getting worse by the week, didnt even make it to the bus stop before getting dropped - Although at least this time i have the excuse of being held up with a puncture rather than lack of fitness!
  16. hope to make it, and hope to stay on longer than langbank this week!
  17. Dr Lim has some recipe videos on youtube The boiled potato one is really effective and something a bit different to an energy gel or bar
  18. Good night tonight, nice to finally meet you all. Pretty surprised at winning a couple of races. The last one just seemed to fall into my lap somehow - my legs were pretty much gone by then but there was a Nightingale rider on the front who for some reason pulled everyone along at a good pace for about 15 laps so i had a chance to ride along and not do much work, by the time of the bell i was sitting third wheel and pretty much in an ideal position for the sprint, without having done anything to get the position.
  19. I entered the D but last time there wasn't enough to run that so was in with the C group instead.
  20. Must be someone else you are thinking of as i've never been a member of Fullarton wheelers. As for my soul, sold it to rock n roll a few years back...should probably be getting a refund for that now though!
  21. Finally got round to paying my membership fee today (Or at least i hope i did, i'm never totally confident filling in sort codes ) Do i need to fill out a form with some details like british cycling membership number etc or is that it?
  22. Part of the coastal road is closed for the next few weeks http://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/news/Road-works-on-Arran.aspx Not sure if it is passable by bike or not but it sounds like quite major work rather than just a resurfacing.
  23. Found that tough tonight, was suffering by Langbank and then continued to struggle the rest of the way. Anyway thanks for the company guys made it easier to get out for a ride tonight - apologies for not being strong enough to do my fair share of the work!
