  1. Hope to make it out, Dunoon is one of my favourites too. Are we doing the C11 climb?
  2. It might be worth checking in Thomsons Cycles as they ordered a couple of womens jerseys to help meet the minimum order. I dont however know what size these are (or even if they are still available!)
  3. Do you need volunteers to attend all 6 sessions? I'll be pretty busy in May so likely wont be able to attend them all but should be able to make it to a few of them at least.
  4. Anyone else at track league this week? B for me
  5. Cracking weather on alot of roads i dont know that well - enjoyed the ride while i was there. Thanks to Chung (and the others) for mechanical expertise and getting me back on the road after the derailleur coming off.
  6. going up the Clune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slCyAtBYKDc
  7. Got the email with the entry link and details last night - deadline has been extended to 9 May. The entry link is https://regonline.activeeurope.com?eventID=1533725&rTypeID=155583 The form you fill asks for an estimated time - i put in for 4 hours 20-29 minutes . Which sounds pretty fast for a 100 miles however i managed to do it in 4.34 last year so the closed roads and big groups really help the speed (as a comparision it is about 40 minutes faster than ive ever managed a 100 miles before or since!) ---------- I am delighted to confirm that your email link for your Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 Club Challenge on Sunday, August 10 is now ready to use. In order to allow your 4 riders to complete their online entry form and pay the entry fee please forward them the link below which is for your Johnstone Wheelers CC Male Team 1 team, which is a Male team. Please note the team type cannot be changed. Each rider within the team must pay their own entry fee (£48) and complete their own online entry form; all 4 riders in the team must have completed and paid for their entry by 5pm on the 9 May 2014 or the team will lose its place. This date will not be extended under any circumstances, so please do ensure all your riders have completed prior to the closing date. Please note: A team comprises four riders. Every rider in a team must be a current British Cycling member. Teams can comprise of four men or four women or a mixed team of two men and two women. Riders who hold an Elite or Category 1 British Cycling Race Licence are not eligible to enter the Club Challenge. Riders who have already secured an individual place through the original entry ballot or a charity place are not eligible to enter the Club Challenge.
  8. Nice night for it and good turnout too. I had a gopro camera on the bike but i accidentally turned it off at the top of Clune so missed everything after that and before then most of the footage is into the sun so not the best quality. Conveniently this means my poor excuse for a late breakaway on the Georgetown was missed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ioI9aSDhEE
  9. Meet at the bus stop near the Houston - Crosslee roundabout https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.86487,-4.539247,3a,75y,277.64h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1saBqbBKM9K3TSQpkr9bcogw!2e0 Generally pace is kept steady for the first bit along the Georgetown road - it is like what you will have experienced on normal club run for this bit - pace picks up after Bishopton onto the West Ferry where the group then rides in a paceline (i'll leave the more experienced guys to explain what to do because if i try and explain you'll probably end up doing the wrong thing!) Unlike a normal club run if someone has a puncture, mechanical or gets dropped then the group doesnt wait. There will be a regrouping at the top of the Clune Brae (and there is also a shortcut up here if required)
  10. Well done, sounds like a great experience!
  11. Bit time pressed tomorrow so just going to do my own thing, if i see the bunch out i'll tag on for a bit.
  12. It is about 7 or 8 miles from Inchinnan. The easiest way to the clubrooms is from the cycletrack, however if you dont know the cycletrack it is worth looking at the satellite maps on google to get your bearings about what exit you should take (the one beside the bridge that has a cage on it halfway between Johnstone and Elderslie)
  13. Soaked but some good miles in the legs. Good to see a couple of new faces out with the bunch too
  14. They aim to get people arriving between 12 and 1 for the lunch break so stagger the starts for this (they dont start the afternoon lap until after 1) but if you are outside this then its ok too - latest start for the afternoon loop is 2.30pm so as long as you average about 12mph you'll have time to complete the morning loop plus also have time for a lunch break. Obviously you'll be able to go slower than this too but that will cut into the cake eating opportunities!
  15. Seems i was totally wrong then! If you check the 'fat lads flat chance' thread you will be able to read what the guys who raced on the same course last week were saying about it
  16. I think it is the same route as the Glasgow Green CC Wosca races There is a free race workshop for women at the velodrome on the 5th of May http://www.britishcy...-Dales-Cycles-0
  17. Tough night, first time ive not taken the shortcut so feel like progress is being made. Although made the mistake of trying to go for a breakaway instead of waiting for the sprint and died into the headwind with Darryl then taking it comfortably. Good turnout considering the weather.
  18. Legs felt good today then when i saw alot of the fast young guys were missing (presumably with junior tour of Scotland coming up) i felt quite confident of making the breakthrough tonight in the Bs. Shouldnt have counted my chickens though as there was not enough A riders tonight and too many B riders to fit them all in the same race, so two combined a/b races and i was put in with Davie Lines, Andrew Whitehall, Callum Watson and a couple of others. Wasnt too bad to start with but when the hammer went down with a few laps to go it blew things apart, was just about hanging on but someone drifted down and i had to ease up slightly that meant i lost the wheel and it was game over. Next up was a Kieren, didnt do great then it was a B group only scratch where i attacked with a couple of laps to go and managed to get either a 2nd or 3rd. Another Kieren next managed a 3rd in this however there were only 5 riders in that one so it was also 3rd last! Finished off with another A/B race when the split happened i had just joined the end of the line after taking my turn so completly the wrong place. Riders in front were pulling out meaning i kept having to try and close down gaps by the time things calmed a bit there was a group of 4 about half a lap ahead and a small chasing group which i was about 10 metres behind but just couldnt get back on, eventually got lapped by the 4 in front then chucked it with a couple of laps to go. Painful night but was enjoyable as well because the race programme was a bit different to normal. Some good results from Alan tonight although i suspect he is just as pleased with avoiding crashing into a rider that went down right in front while they were both in the middle of a sprint. Very impressive save!
  19. I cant 100% commit yet (more like 80%) but i can be corner marshall. Will post here if i cant make it least a week before incase you need to find someone else.
  20. Well done 40+ mph is impressive its not that much of a slope!
  21. Some tough hills and weather. With the Tak and the Crow taking us into the clouds it almost made them feel like the Pryenees. The tailwind i was expecting going along the Carron Valley didnt seem to materialise but at least we got it after the cafe stop. Hope the injury isnt too bad Mark
