  1. Ian Manson - today, at the back of 11 on the track at Howwood - looking suitably bronzed after foreign sun, amongst the milk white WoS knees otherwise on view! Later, John and Rita in the cafe at Kilbirnie - great day for anyone lucky enough to be out on a bike! Iain
  2. Many thanks to Paul L, Graham & Kenny S for doing the needful - much appreciated! Well done to Retro Richard - the spirit of Alf Engers is alive and kicking! Great to see so many Jets and young folk out. Iain
  3. Many thanks to Jane and Alan for helping out. Well done to all - great effort from Richard on a cold breezy night Iain
  4. Just finished tinkering with the TT bike so there seems nothing else for it but to try to remember how to ride it!! Iain
  5. Hi Paul - happy to help out/marshall as usual. Iain
  6. Excellent news Chung - have a good one Iain
  7. Not for me tonight - turbo beckons - sometimes the weather wins! Iain
  8. Five hardy souls ventured out this morning in challenging winds, though as forecast the rain did ease! Times as follows: 1. Alan McBride 26:48 PB (Paid) 2. Ian McGinty 27:43 PB (Paid) 3. Alan T 29:47 (Paid double last week) 4. Mike Ferguson 33:02 (Paid) 5. James Maclaren 33:23 (Payment to come/next time) Some great times and PBs on a tough, early season morning and a fine win for Alan McB on full muddies and no tri bars Well done to all. Many thanks to Paul L for haudin' up and early identification of finishing riders. £9.00 to club funds on the day. Iain
  9. Well done to Mr McGinty on a fine win and to Alan T on the PB Good efforts all round I'd say, on a day when I don't know yet where the wind was coming from! Many thanks to Jane for timekeeping, Iain Couttie for shovin' aff, Jann and Iain for photos. Fantastic day to be out on the bike! With the ride down and back, plus a 44 mile hilly route with Kenny Christie from Langbank, I managed 92+ much needed miles from the house. By far the furthest this year - here's to more fine weather!! Iain
  10. Hoping to ride, as is Mike Ferguson. Both entered The Gordon Arms Hilly 21 Mile TT next week-end so practice needed! Iain
  11. Congratulations to Paul and Carol and well done to all on a fine brisk morning! Many thanks to Jann for timekeeping, to Alan T for haudin up' and Iain McT and Mary for general encouragement as the wind freshened/legs tired. We've started and plenty more to come!! Iain
  12. Good luck to all the riders and well done to all - including parents & coaches! Iain
  13. Fantastic experience for the Jets (and the other young riders) - on great roads too! Weather is bound to smile on them Iain
  14. Hi Tony - as you say - each to their own. I've always thoroughly enjoyed the Restricted Gear events. The lower gears promote fast and efficient pedalling and help keep you warm at this time of year! Last year's event was won superbly by Adam Hazel, one of the Jets. My understanding is that restricted gear events are a traditional part of the British cycling club calendar, usually following Reliability Trials and constituting the first time trials of the year. Generally they are followed by two-up TT events. Iain
  15. I'm hoping to ride Graham - as was Mike Ferguson when we spoke at the Don Smith. Iain
  16. Looks like you are sorted Greg but if you want an additional part used road tyre you are welcome (I found the turbo chews 'em up quite fast!). Anyway, let me know - I can drop it over to you or bring to the Don Smith if you are still here at the w/e. Iain
  17. Excellent event - joint tops in the Scottish TT catering stakes in my view - equalled only by West Lothian Clarion! Fine course - A77 I believe - might give it another go myself. Iain
  18. Was walking Freddie there this morning and wondered who had made a mess of the park Davie Iain
  19. Star quality Richard - nice bike BTW! Iain
  20. http://www.walkerscycling.co.uk/Cycling%20Performance%20Consultancy/index.htm Hi Paul As others have said you can get a lot of good stuff on the net on bike fit. If you are set on a local pro job the above link gives an alternative to Dales (Neil Walker of Walkers Cycling). I have no knowledge of either so maybe best fish about for reviews/price comparison. Iain
  21. I quite like stripy jerseys Chung (and hooped ones) ! I guess they are less common nowadays as jerseys have to serve as mobile hoardings! Remarkable new signings should ensure some good racing on their wildcard entry - remind me to fill the fridge and put my feet up! Iain
  22. All the best Jann - and to all the Wheelers & Jets too! Iain & Mary
  23. More great stuff from the Jets - well done indeed! Iain
  24. That's Mary and me through too- as Alan says, very easy to use. Iain
