18:30 Georgetown 7.2 miles

Roll up, roll up for the (hopefully this time) first of the Georgetown club confined time trials of the year!

The road surface isn't perfect just now, but not really any worse than it's been for a while. As of the time of posting there are no traffic lights! I'm going to start a separate thread on alternative routes just in case we're caught short again

Meet at 18:15 at the Inchinnan end of the Georgetown Road for an 18:30 start.

2-up means you ride in teams of two and share the effort of cutting through the wind. Open to all club members and those without a club intending to join the Wheelers. A reasonable road for a first try at a time trial, if you need someone to ride with just post here and we'll fix you up! You can just come along on a normal road bike if you wish, if you really want to ride on your own you can do that too.

So, who's coming along and do we have a volunteer for timekeeping duties?

Looks like it's going to the 'B' route. As another option, what about using the Greenock road to the first roundabout before Bishopton and back? Should be easy enough to mark off 3.6 miles there and back. Only issue is that road is busier than Georgetown, but it is wider.

5 intrepid riders (2 sharing a top tube and wheels) showed up for a cold damp outing on an alternative course.

After some discussion we decided on 2 laps of the Red Smiddy to new roundabout on the A8 course.

First on the night was a chilly Sport Billy, with a good effort by Al(l)an's M & T, and also the 'F' family on a tandem

Red Smiddy Course 5.3 miles

1. Billy Mac 14:58

2. Alan T 16:17

3. Allan M 18:09

4. Jane and Graham F (Tandem) 18:40

Well done!

Well done, people.

We passed a startled looking person on a TT bike on the new roundabout at bishopton.

Was that you, Billy? Must have got quite a fright with 20 guys whizzing by either side of you :-)

That is a pretty decent course, apart from the red smiddy roundabout where Allan M got held up a bit, and it is very well known to everyone. More use in the future since it is scaleable to 5, 7.5 and 10?

Anyway, thanks to Al for timekeeping and short notice arrangements, and to Ian Couttie for holding up and shoving off. Well impressed by Graham and Jane on the tandem.

Don't be daft it was fine for tonight but it ain't a TT course to many roundabouts and back which slows you down

Al good plan B maybe we should start the 10 earlier if roadworks are here for a while
