Kenny Christie
Can anyone confirm that I am eligible to enter any SCU Championship events whilst holding a silver membership to British Cycling? Cheers.
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 21, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 Yes, I'm sure you can
2023 Subscriptions David Thomson Posted June 21, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 Depends on if you have a Full licence(YES) with your membership or a Provisional licence(NO). David
2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted June 21, 2012 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 If you don't have a licence, you could race with a day licence.
2023 Subscriptions martin Posted June 21, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 21, 2012 Day licences aren't offered / accepted for championship events, so I'm with David on this one. M
2023 Subscriptions Tom Hill Posted June 22, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Silver membership includes a full race licence as I recall. Tom
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted June 22, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Gold, Silver or Bronze membership automatically gets you a provisional licence but not a full racing licence. You need a Gold or Silver to get a full licence, but you will pay for it. So I agree with David. 2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted June 22, 2012 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Question: how are Scottish championships rated by BC? Are they National or Regional? SCU is a region for BC puposes iirc, just like North West, Midlands etc, which all have their regional championships. So, whereas the British Champs is a National Champs, the SCU Champs are regional. If the SC champs are regional A races, then you can race on a day licence. But you cannot use a day licence for the National Champs, ie. British Champs. http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/zuvvi/ ... lities.pdf Of course this might be entirely wrong
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted June 22, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Right, the definitive answer, straight form the BC rules! Technical regulations 4.7.4 - "Only holders of full annual racing licences may compete in national championships, regional championships....." So on a provisional licence you can't enter SCU Champs event, as they are regional championships. Hence, you can only enter if you have a full licence (with gold or silver membership). Iain Cowden
Curiously I too checked this out yesterday - sadly Ramsay is correct! Call me a miserable Paisleyite (true) but I really grudge paying the additional cash for maybe one or two races per year! So I don't think I'll be racing on 5 August! 2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted June 22, 2012 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Similar boat to Iain. Had hoped to ride the Vets Champ RR. Organiser said day licence would be fine, but not so sure now.
Kenny Christie
Cheers for the feedback, it seems I will be sitting these events out again this year.
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted June 22, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 I have heard of people being allowed to ride, but not being elligible for the Championship. Not sure of the exact circumstances, but it may be worth just dropping the organiser a note and asking. They can only say no. R
Kenny Christie
Aye, had crossed my mind. I will do just that and see if I can get a space. Cheers.
