Members Richard
No fear! I'll be getting the train back. The run to Ardrossan and the figure of eight round Arran adds up to about 120 miles, which'll do me nicely. Of course, this plan all goes out the window if it's skooshing down on Saturday morning. Members Richard
Kenny C and I rode out to meet Ian McGinty at Bishopton. We picked up Mark on the outskirts of Ardrossan and Dave at the ferry terminal. Campbell appeared as we were settling in on the boat. It was a funny sort of day. The original plan went out the window: we rode inland to Ardrossan; we went round the north of Arran and over the String - fat chance of doing a figure of eight in that wind - and the trip home was made by bicycle rather than train. For the record, Campbell and Dave completed a full lap of the island. Chapeau! An incredible amount of time was spent sitting in chairs rather than on saddles. We parked ourselves on the ferry; in a coffee shop and a pub at Brodick; and the hotel at Blackwaterfoot. I feel a bit guilty about that but it was good. Definite pluses for me: I bounced back after being pummeled into submission by the wind on Arran. And preliminary calculations give a total mileage of 120 miles, which is a wee confidence booster. Cheers for the company, folks.
