Dave F reacted to AlanT in Zwift Racing League Season 1 C group report
So, that's the end of an attritional season 1 for the C group. We started with a pool of 9 riders, (Ali Crichton, Ryan Finn, Colin Downie, Dan Skierka, Vali Stefan, George Donnelly, Dave Cathcart, Eric Lymburn and me), and finished on the last night with 4 riders. During the season, George got promoted to the B group - well done George.
Injuries, technical issues and work commitments affected numbers elsewhere. On only two occasion did we manage to actually field 6 riders. Our best result was 11th in race 2, and arguably our worst was a DQ on week 7, the team trial, even though we finished halfway up the field, but with only three riders.
The racing was hard, I guess its supposed to be, but fun in an intense sort of way, especially if you manage to get into a good bunch to get dragged round the various courses. If there are other people out there who want to race, but aren't sure about what's involved, then they are more than welcome to log in and take part.
    Looking forward to Season 2

I think James gets the man of the match. A GT rule of thumb is you can go a minute quicker on a wheel (equally matched pair taking turns - 30s). James to take one and a half minutes off his best must first have been millimetres off Sam's back wheel and second, buried himself to stay there. Balls of steel on both counts. Double kudos. And single kudos for Sam to have been so steady to bring them home.

Ian and me on full TT setups this year unlike the road bikes of previous. The competition is getting too fast to mess about 🤣

    Thanks Dave for the timekeeping!

Congrats to Ian and Iain for a quick time (and the win) on a lovely evening, and a big well done to Sam and James on another blistering sub 16. In terms of the David Raymond Trophy, I’ll need the best 10 time set in the last three years for Sam, James and Team Gunson, who also produced a brilliant sub 17 time on their first TT for a while. I think I have times for everyone else.
Iain Couttie pulled out with a mechanical? so Geo had to run solo.
I have transferred £27 to club funds.
Amd finally, thanks to Dave F for timekeeping and to Kenny for providing welcome support at the turn.

Set off nice & early this morning from my house & got to the clubroom 0855 ...... not a soul to be seen except from a few dog walkers .... oops, have I got the time/date wrong? ........ so rode round the Miller Street estate as I didn't fancy standing on my toad ..... luckily by the time I came back, there were 13 fellow club mates had already turned up waiting ...... phew!
So, 14 of us - Alan T, Ali M, Andy R & James R (Jets), Anthony, Carol M, Carol & David, Frank, Gary, Graham, Jullie, Mitch & myself set off for sunny Troon!
Working well together & setting a nice pace where everyone was comfortable ..... A few stronger riders decided to take longer spells, which was no doubt welcome by some and me especially 🙂 I only manage ONE turn on the front all day ....... riding on the front is so over-rated anyway 🙂
It wasn't as lumpy as last week but still some drags in parts ..... Jullie left us in Kilmeurs, leaving 13 to continue on our way to Troon!
The blueberry Cafe is always one of my favourite, great baking & proper china for my tea ..... how posh! Service was great and quick too considering there were 13 hungry cyclist all wanting fed at the same time!
By the time we left the place the weather has gone much warmer too, so off comes the layers to enjoy the sun a bit.
The return leg just continue on where we left off earlier ...... I think Alan & Graham just sat on the front all the way back to the Bowfield before Ali made an attacked which was followed by young James, everyone then joined in and the descend down the Bowfield (second Sunday running) was fantastic ...... a wee regrouping at the bottom & we rode all the way back to the Johnstone again as we started in the morning!
Brilliant run again organised by David & Alan for leading on the return leg 🙂
Thanks to all for the wheels & company today ...... another cracker!
Cheers & thanks for reading ..... now for some photies courtesy of Carol & Graham

I have had a trip along the route to check out the roadworks.  The cones are all still at the side of the road, the lay by is still closed and there is no sign of any work being done soon.  It is clear that there is still some work to be done, so we should check every week we plan on using this course.  This should mean we are all good to go for tonight.
N.B. There is a temporary 40mph speed limit for part of the route, it shall be at individual rider’s discretion to observe this.

A nice wee grouppetto of 6 headed for Largs, cake and coffee. Present were: Robbie Gunson, Alan Thomson; Darryl Gunson, Stuart Tennant, Dave Ferguson, and old JWCC legend Marco van Whitehead. A wheel about was had over the top of the Haylie Brae.
Bumped into another ex-wheeler Gerry McCartney on the track as well as current wheelers Andy and Alan.
Another good day on the bike

Dave F reacted to AlanT in League of 10 #3, 29th June,
Sadly, the lane closure that was supposed to end on 11th June is still in place, and likely to remain so for some time. We will not be racing on the Westferry this, or probably next week, and the Frank Lauder 10 is also in jeopardy.
    So, we have a choice.
    1. Use the restricted gear course for a 2 lap, 10 mile event as part of the league of 10.
    2. Use the Hilly course as part of the league of 10.
    3. Georgetown road for another Chocolate series.
    4. Abandon this week completely.
My favoured option would be 1, because it could be a straight swap on the calendar assuming the Westferry reopens in mid July.
    Sensible opinions please.
