I am still nursing a hamstring strain and so won't ride in anger. I'm happy to take a gentle ride out, timekeep and slowly make my way back though.

Nope: I'm off to north Wales for most of the week and so won't be out to play tomorrow night.

I don't know the restricted gear course, but the idea of a straight swap seems the most sensible and straightforward option.
