I'm booked for 07:00 ferry this Tuesday 11th August, and booked to return on the 13:55 sailing. Think there's still space left so any socially distant company is welcome. Looks like a northerly wind forecast, so will probably go anticlockwise. If legs feel good might attempt a solo SA, depends how much energy I've put into cycling to Ardrossan at silly o clock in the morning to catch the ferry since I tend to be late all the time lol. Should be a nice gentle tailwind down the western coast so looking forward to getting over there.

Hi, the council is looking for the public's views on its proposals to use it's allocated Spaces For People budget for specific cycleways. Details and plans at: http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/SpacesForPeopleCycleways and the public are invited to email [email protected] with views by 26th July
Thought it may interest a few of us!
Best,
Colin.

@P McDonald Found some attire for the occasion when lockdown is lifted and we attack Arran. I'm opting for the yellow (copper) one. Shame there's no skinsuit... reckon the yellow one would go with our blue bibshorts...?

I have a few favourites:
1. The Five Ferries (door to door, no trains!) - https://www.strava.com/activities/997385522
Clubhouse, Clune, Gourock, Weymss Bay, Colintraive, Tigh-na-Bruiach, Portavadie, Tarbert, Claonaig, Lochranza, Brodick, Ardrossan, Stevenson, Kilwinning, cycle path home. 110 - ish miles.
2. The 125 Mile Belter - https://www.strava.com/activities/1569912575
Clubhouse, Bridge, Helensburgh, Garelochhead, Arrochar, Rest, Hells Glen (or direct descent), Strachur, Otter Ferry, Loch Tarsan, Dunoon, Gourock, West Ferry or Clune home.
3. Full Arran - https://www.strava.com/routes/8304084
Speaks for itself. Preferably not at Single Arran pace lol

I think a WhatsApp group would only work for those who regularly post rides, just to agree a route and leaving time (not to say no one else can post a run, of course they can, this is just for club runs) Then the agreed route gets posted on The Bunch and linked to from the club's social media, so the main place for anyone to check for a ride will still be The Bunch (not everyone has FB, insta, twitter - some people don't even have Strava lol) so this is still the best place to check.

Will be there

Just brought out the winter bike but I'm not happy with it's condition. I've gave it a wee touch up (oo-err) but I'm not confident with it at the moment so I'll miss this run tomorrow. I'll probably just take it out on a wee tester run to Renfrew and back just to make sure I'm happy with it. If all good then back out next week

You may be fashionably late Colin?? 😂
Always 🤣

Got a night out Saturday, can't guarantee I'll make it, so I'm a 'maybe' at the moment. You thinking about Sinclair Street and then cafe stop in Balloch and back from there?

Would you take £100 and a dozen Krispy Kreme's? 😜
Lovely bike Chung!! Didn't think you'd be getting rid so soon? Hope all is well, good luck with the sale.

I guess it depends what you're training for. Sportive? TTs? Races? Or just general fitness? Last year I tried to follow one of the British Cycling training plans available on TrainingPeaks. However, I didn't have an app to use with it, so just loaded them into the Garmin, stuck a set of headphones on with some really energetic tunes and went for it. Got an indoor spin bike this year so using that instead. I'm hearing most people going with Zwift, but if I were you, I'd be going with the cheaper option, whatever that may be.

Surprise surprise I am late. Don't wait on me - I'll try and catch you up hopefully by Dumbarton. If not then I'll do my own thing. Apologies.

I'm in. 09:30 at bridge is good for me

Perfect. Will post by 8am if forecast is too iffy for me, but looks like a go-er at the moment

Nothing posted up. How about Club rooms, Georgetown Rd, Bishopton, West Ferry and round coast to Largs with option to climb Brisbane Glen via Greenock Cut at Inverkip. Cafe stop BB. Home via Fairlie Moor... but perhaps try and avoid cycle path where possible as it's really slippy with leaves at the mo. Could just do main road back to Lochwinnoch and back road to Howwood and Johnstone for a change. Unless roads are mobbed then just do cycle path.
Clubrooms 9am. Who's in? Heads up though if it's raining I'll be giving it a miss.

Unfortunately if the forecast stays the same I'll be staying in. Hoping for an improvement 👍
