Good fast bunch today in wet windy conditions. Went back via ardrossan.
Good work Andy you were doing some good shifts.
Sorry to hear that Paul...hopefully next week.

Well that was hard. Thanks to scotrail I missed the Bunch making it to the bogs at 1005. I decided to chase in the vain hope that a mechanical or the traffic light gods might smile upon my forsaken soul. Hope blossomed at the Red Swinney as I could see the unmistakable sign of car queues and flashing red lights. However by the time I made westferry there was not a sign at all. I continued to pray to the traffic light gods but the only signs they gave me were reds through the port and Greenock. So up through Spango Valley. It is indeed a dark place but shaves nearly 3k off the 56k to Largs. I made largs just ahead of Bunch which gave me a few extra minutes recovery time before joining the bunch properly. The bypass was hard and I knew by the time I reached Kilwinning I was living on borrowed time. I sat hopefully on Gregg’s wheel and momentarily was inspired by Dr Alan getting back on the Bunch. However once Gregg started to move to the front at the saltworks I was gone. Lights out. Nice company back to Beith with Paul and Alan before heading back into the wind. I was never so happy to be home! Good work out.

Was very glad to get out today after numbing the man throat with paracetamol and ibuprofen!
A real solid run until we got to the dreaded Kilwinning drag. Got dropped just before the left turn which was agonisingly near the top, an oft repeated tale the past few years. However it meant a very pleasant run back with Andy and Alan.
Galeb - this is the standard route for the bogs bunch after new year, sorry I got pumped and could not give you directions. My 'radical' suggestion was to go up round the by pass at Ardrossan roundabout as opposed to trawling through the 3 towns, Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston. I think that worked well in the sense that cars have the extra lane to pass you and it saves a lot of traffic lights.

After a week off the bike here I was turning up for the usual renfrew bunch. Before Largs burnt some matches and chipped of the front in the head wind and stayed away...it seems bunch didn't have appetite to chase and let me go. After a quick break in largs we set off to do a slightly different route (I thought!), or radical as Paul described it...the last stretch towards Barrhead/Paisley (I think) was intresting with 6 of us left out of a good size bunch, but at that point I was running out of fuel and decided I had enough. Had no clue where I was but luckily we caught Jan on that stretch that joined me and gave me some direction .
Found my way...75 miles on the clock...good ride but a bit too long for me. I'm more of a 45-50 miles with a punch .

    Festive Renfrew Bunch...
Plan was to catch them at Inverkip round about (cause going through spango valley is cool ) however, missed them again but this time I was ahead! Strong head wind heading to Inverkip which probably slowed up the bunch too. When I got to Inverkip thought I was late so head down into aero mode to Largs but no one there! A few mins later the bunch turns up...they must have been going slow! Not...turns out that it was balls out JWCC vs G Couriers by the sounds of it, will let the involved tell the story. Shame I missed that mincing.
Back via Ardrossan with a good size bunch allowing a fast T&O. Good to see Alan McLean out with his 3/4 bibs!
    Food and rest now!

Great to see so many JWCC for different parts of the run today. Darryl, Galeb, James, Andy and Alan were all present at sections on the route. We had singled up through Wemyss Bay due to line of traffic, I rolled through and suddenly me Andy and Alan were way off the front. Andy and Alan were up for putting the hammer down, I was a bit more conservative thinking we might not want to poke the bears behind. However the bears were indeed poked, Gregg and Richie came flying past a km later and all hell let loose for the first balls out habble from Wemyss Bay to Largs of the winter. A similar performance on the W Kilbride - Ardrossan road in the cross tail wind. My day finished with a very civilised ride and chat with Doc Alan from Beith to Lochwinnoch.

Thought I was doing ok until habbles into Largs and Ardrossan. Almost threw up and needed pushed up the paceline. Bonked on the way home and felt super dizzy in the bath. Legs hurt now. Brilliant.

Good bunch today. So much for my plan going back via haylie due to residual man flue. I just needed Paul to tell me it only makes 10min difference (even tho its probably more like 30mins) to join the bunch to west kilbride.
    Knackered now

Won't be out this week. So someone needs to do a sneaky calculated attack before Largs we need to keep the tradition going

    Hi Alan
Sorry to hear that pal. as nobody posted as of early morning Davie and I made arrangements to meet at Dalry and do Transmitter route from there. It was a good run but into headwind all the way to Darvel. We were looking forward to a stop at Springfield nursery for coffee but discovered it closed back in July. Not to worry coffee stop in nice wee deli in Fenwick. Headed back via stewarton, Kilwinning and up the coast. 125 hard kilometres and excellent company with DavieB

Had to mix it up a bit thought broke away on my own until Michael flew past got his wheel and hung on to it until he started flicking his elbow...okay...so we took turns until Largs where my legs were screaming at that point. It was good fun think I gave him a good kicking

Galeb, there has been some lobbying in the background. Compromise position is 9.30am at Red Smiddy roundabout, I will be at Houston roundabout 9.20am.
Iain, proposed route is Spango via Westferry, Loch Thom W Kilbride.
A good grind pace. Folks can go as hard as they like on hills.
Some folks have very sore legs after 2 hrs track today except Cedric who is on the Michelin man version of Duracell, he did national hill climb in rain this morning then wiped the floor at the track.

Sorry to Galeb and Marc but as chung says there was no slack in the timing. We had to run down the hill to get the first youth riders after Robbie finished. If you had ridden then you'd have met an empty finish line.
Well done for going out in the cold and wet anyway.

    Unlucky, Galeb!
As there were still a big bunch of Jets to set off after the senior riders & with Alan McLean (my time-keeping partner at the top) who had to make this scheduled way back down to the closer finish line for the jets. It was just too close to make any sudden changes & could potentially causes confusion, hence to take the decision on the line!
You & Marc could have been strong contenders & give Robbie a run for his money :-/ Oh well, there's always next year & it gives you 12 months to train for it! :-) I'm sure you'll smash it!
    Cheers

No hill climb ...was too wet and cold to stand around so went for a spin to keep warm, when back was apparently too late to participate. Mini blast after that with Marc - arrived home soaked!
