  1. I will be there, I have a couple of ideas.....
  2. Good bunch on a good run with a good cafe stop. Mechanicals did not detract from the day, but I do not know how Alan got home. Comments have been noted and I will be fitting mudguards now.
  3. I will be out for this one, see you at the clubrooms.
  4. Should I arrange a time that I may try a jacket for size? I would also need to arrange payment.
  5. Epic day, mild with autumn sunshine, fantastic roads, good lunch with a fire, amazing scenery and no mechanicals. All cycle runs should be like today's.
  6. There is a bus stop just off the roundabout at Newark Castle. Where are you coming from and what route?
  7. Thanks Alan I did buy Shimano one piece blocks, so next time I will source the better ones. I do the cardboard thing as I hate squealing brakes. My brakes do work and with this dry weather I have no issues, I just always have a feeling that when I do set them up it can always be done better (there is a lot of me to bring to a stop). I perhaps just need the reassurance that I have done everything possible to get the best performance from my brakes.
  8. I now only have until 1300h to be out, so I will have to clock watch a bit.
  9. Here are mine: Get into the 16.30s for the Georgetown TT Enter a road race (any suggestions will be welcome) Behave like a grown up on a club run (will anyone notice?) I may need to recycle this post next year.
  10. I am up for this run and so far the weather looks good. How about meeting at the bus stop just past the roundabout at Newark Castle at 1000h and head for Gourock and the first ferry. The rest of the day just needs to happen... Post up if coming and any itinerary suggestions.
  11. Planning a wee run on the local roads. Meet up behind Amaretto in Bridge of Weir at 0945, then track down to Lochwinnoch, then down to Port Glasgow and back up Clune Brae and Kilmacolm. You all know the route, so post up if you are coming along and where you want to meet up. Cake as well.
  12. A great event to finish the Time Trial season, a massive thank you to everyone there today running things so smoothly. A special thanks to the 'catcher' at the top, that was an exceptionally nice thing to do.
  13. Thank you, I will try that tomorrow, it just seems a bit hit and miss for me, my brakes are safe but I always think they could be better set up.
  14. Just fitted new brake blocks, they will work fine. But the toe-in is more on one than the other and it gives the brakes a spongier feel rather than that nice firm grab I like. Gravity has a big effect on my bulk, so I need the best I can get from my brakes so I do not get too scared. Any tips and suggestions?
  15. Thanks to all tonight, very much a dash in and out. Congratulations on your PB Alan. I will settle my debts a week on Saturday where someone can give me some hints on doing this hill thing. Surely I can do better and not cycle uphill looking like I just learned to go without stabilisers.
  16. Meeting at the south end of Erskine bridge at 0930 and heading towards Dumbarton and past Duck Bay and through Glen Fruin. Probably return through Helensburgh where there are plenty of possible cake stops. Post up if meeting up as Beth will be at the north end of the bridge waiting.

  18. As long as I do not think about the last 50m I know I can persuade myself to come along.
  19. I got a 2 minute 28 second, but my rear tyre was quite low so it must have cost me, oh, at least 45 seconds! It was good to see Jaki again and Matthew insisted on giving it a shot.
  20. Having to pedal downhill is a sure sign of a tough day, well done.
  21. A great day out on a great island with some great members of great cycle club. A bit of a slog back to the car against the wind and then I took Beth back to Partick, getting home over two hours later than expected. Beth is looking to get out more often so it looks like the Serpentine did not put her off.
  22. Congratulations on a good time.
