The rain should thin out the chippers. Thinking I might have an attempt at the Heggies KoM. David Griffiths has had it since 2013.

This time I really am going to bring my new Cervelo P5.

Really enjoyable night. Hugely enjoyed keeping the women and the juniors under pressure. I know I have all the expensive kit but the day will come when their talent is going to overcome... just not yet
So great night. Now we need some low pressure, high humidity and 25 degrees C.

First test of my new Cervelo P5. And tapering for the Tour of the Meldons on Sunday. Hoping for a sub 16.

Great turn out tonight and very enjoyable (came 3rd in sprint after taking the short-cut). Marc Kelly has even less shame, taking the short cut and winning the sprint. Bah!
Anyway seems there are people not happy with who we ride with and what we say in the JWCC, however I'm hoping the Thursday group can stay a broad church and cope with some levity.
Meantime going to ban myself from the Sewing Bee and Sunday groups (before I get banned). Be sad if Thursday nights went the same way as the official club rides.
Excellent night.
Cheers

We need an elder statesman with leadership skills to keep the pace moderate to the top of Bishy Hill. Or we could strap an HR monitor to Charlie with an alarm when it goes over 200bpm. Definitely think we should have a “no one gets dropped before the top of Bishy Hill” policy.

Well spotted. I've booked both hours. Been working on my sprint...
-
Forecast is still bad. Think I'll be on a rest day.

Very enjoyable. I've booked the 10am Derny session for tomorrow now too (and the 11am open session). Expensive cycling weekend but will get it all back by having a quiet night in tonight. Think Sam has booked too.
PS Don't ever believe P McD when he says he has flu. Cunning psychology - fooled Iain when he lost his wheel.

Booked. First outing since the crash... best keep a safe distance from me

Thanks and well done to the organisers and all those who rode it too.
A bit gutted i wasnt feeling up to it, a side tailwind smashfest up the coast with some strava KOMs...i feel like ive missed out big time!
I jumped on to Strava to see if the 2019 Don Smith had taken Katie's and my KoM / QoM on the Lugton to Kilwinning segment. Whew. You guys need to start pushing your pedals a bit earlier next year. And can't believe we haven't a Jet could put Richie Provan to the sword. He's collecting some impressive KoM's - all that Spanish training with Billy...

Hope it’s not a rerun of the Milngavie cycle path. All that money spent and cyclists hate it, motorist hate it but it gives the local bureaucrats a nice warm feeling. The devil is in the detail: junctions and side roads.

Well done Sam on his first bogs bunch (I think), rolling through no problem on what was a hard grind into Largs with quite a wind. Sam headed up Heely Brae while Ian and I persisted until we got dropped on the dreaded drag. We teamed up for a mellow run back.
Doc MacLean joined us for a bit down Greenock way but not much chance to converse as it was pretty relentless.
Seriously hard shift. Got dropped by a girl too. Sexist I know. Chapeau to Lynsey Curran. And thanks for the company home Paul. We need to do better.

Beautiful day for a cycle. Scotland at its best. So pleased I was back in time from Tenerife. Thanks guys. Some nicely maintained bikes too. Reliability gods.

I was thinking of coming along. Plan to set my alarm extra early to get there for 9 30am - can't see there being a fast group.

I can bring some cakes
I think there will be some newbies joining the 9am group so can some of the more experienced riders in that group look out for them and show them the ropes? They're decent cyclists so fine in terms of fitness.
If no-one is doing the 9am group then i'll drop back from the 945 to ride with them.
There could be some KoM opportunities with a few well judged efforts in the 9 00 group. I'm tempted, but no, my flight is booked, have to go to Tenerife.

Got a painting of Loch Luibnig on my living room wall. Very much want to see the original and what better way then sitting on your wheel for 200km. That week though I’m in Tenerife. And with some imagination you could find nicer roads; you a scientist I guess. Go creative. Definitely up for it in the Spring.

Tough today. Wore my fancy new goretex top.Noticed I was only one wearing a waterproof probably cos it causes u to overheat. Any way at Largs carried on route with Andy G & Iain McTavish. Met remains of bunch on West Kilbride Dalry road. Rapid run in to Dalry then got spat out on hill in to kilbirnie. Got track to lochwinnoch and heavens opened which was great as my waterproof top came in to its own. Stopped at castle Semple for a coke and coffee then back home. On plus side goretex top is totally waterproof but not good for a bunch run when your heart rate is hitting 173
paul hope u feeling better
Richie said let's go steady so to keep Charlie's cagoule / windbreak with us. Then he bombed up the hill to Kilbirnie. Cagoule got the last laugh though eh?

Very smooth chain gang. Tidy too. Only one honk from a car all day. They must have thought we were pros.
Nevertheless it was sad to see Paul lie down for the 30mph Largs sprint. Seeing the photo of him in the Tour of Flanders thread with Graeme Herd and Drew Smith last century I guess after all these years he is finally losing it. Needed that push Paul btw.
Thanks guys. Almost enjoyed it..

These KoM challenges threaten to corrupt my secret training program to win the sprints on the Georgetown next year. Can I suggest all the segments are left open all winter so I can win them when my periodisation cycle, wind direction and air density match in perfect alignment. Thanks.
I am currently working on long term mitochondria improvement.

I’m Having to work Tuesday and Wednesday. Booked the 8am Tuesday session for Russian Steps though. Big Gordon Stead from Fullarton Wheelers has booked. Always like to try and make him hurt.

If the Khyber Pass is resurfaced I am seriously tempted. Meet you at Erskine Bridge - 9 40am. And we get an extra hour in bed with the clocks going back. Almost civilised.

Star Guest David Griffiths (Bioracer) had done one attempt in 19m 37s, and when he saw us asked if he could join in for a second run. He lowered his skis by 4cm and went over a minute slower (on similar power). I was getting so excited when he hadn't passed my by the turn (9m30s in)... not unhappy with 22m18s, but for a few minutes I thought I was on for a monster PR. Next time. There is always a next time
