  1. Pretty spectacular new video from Danny MacAskill! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ_IQS3VKjA
  2. Good turnout of wheelers and jets tonight. First up in the Bs was a 60 lap points, about a quarter of the way through i swung up after my half lap turn and realised i was off the front. Upped the pace a little and pushed on but i only maintained the gap so i suspect i was being hung out to dry! At least managed to get one of the sprints before being caught. Sit in to recover for a bit then follow an attack and find myself off the front again. D'oh! We worked together but i was suffering big time and we get caught and i can only roll round rather than contest the final sprint. Next was a 30 lap scratch, hardly did any work at all just followed wheels then attacked with 1.5 to go Danny zooms past on the back straight and i expected a couple of others to follow but we had a gap so managed to hold on for 2nd. Tried the same tactic in the last race but it didnt work this time was poorly positioned when the pace picked up and had too much to do.
  3. It is a bit unfair to Richard (and maybe others) to postpone the senior championship if it has been on the calender for a while. Also the national hill climb is coming up and starting in Elderslie so having the club champs the weekend before seems like good timing as presumably some will be racing in that too. Although just to be clear on one thing - i have no intention of entering a hill climb whatever the date may be!
  4. Not sure if i can make it yet but Kilcreggan via Glen Fruin sounds good. Or maybe going back that way as the hairpin descent might be a bit slippy with leaves at the moment.
  5. Well done. An extra long crit sounds fun, in a painful sort of way
  6. results from braveheart. The novice and cx races haven't been posted yet Although i think Iains placing might be wrong - im pretty sure he was standing with Charlie watching the finish when the main group came in! 7. Giving it a miss this week, still to get my wheel sorted
  8. Cracking day out, pretty much ideal weather. Felt like its still summer! Was in group 2 with Al, Alex and Colin - it looked like they were floating up the climbs and i was chewing the stem hoping not to get dropped. The rest of the group were ok - sometimes working well together sometimes not. It wasnt really helped by couple of riders (non Wheelers) who kept sitting in the moving up line only they weren't moving up and by doing so were blocking others. Someone also kept shouting that we should be going steadier on the flat bits...that was a bit annoying, suffering so much up the hills to then ease off on the flat. I eventually got dropped going up the final climb, but it was just as group 3 and the scratch riders caught so was easy enough to get back on over the descent. From then on probably about 40 riders for the run in, Alan really well placed about 4th wheel and an attack goes which he follows and they have a gap. To be honest at first it looked like a daft move but they were staying out and working well together so it started to look like it might work. I went to the front of the bunch to try and slow things down. That however definitely didnt work as i ended up getting swarmed pretty quickly. By then it was the finishing straight - i was next the kerb and boxed in so didnt bother going for it. Probably just as well i'd only have ended up sprinting for the wrong flag anyway! Not that any of this mattered much - group 1 managed to stay away so chapeau to Charlie and Iain!
  9. Think i'll be ok to race so aiming to get the ferry at 12. Just a reminder to fill in form for day membership of TLI (if you are not already a member) go to www.tlicycling.org.uk then click on "day membeship" and follow the instructions and bring the form and £4 fee on the day.
  10. Eventful night in the Bs, first up 60 lap points, didnt contest the first 3 sprints but after the 4th a rider went off the front and i was waiting until he got a decent distance so i could then try and bridge. However left it too long and couldnt bridge, he managed to get the lap and i was dangling in no mans land for about 15 laps. I won one of the sprints by default but by that stage my legs were gone. Next up 30 lap scratch, feeling good until my front wheel was clipped when someone swung down into a gap that wasnt there.I landed on my head then my face but helmet done its job, some track burns down the side of my leg and a banged elbow. Bit stingy in the shower and will no doubt be a bit sore tomorrow but hopefully be ok for Bute at the weekend. Never nice to crash but could have been worse - judging by the marks and scratches on them my sunglasses kept my cheekbone and bridge of my nose off the track!
  11. Great to see so many out today, welcome to the new members. Bagel basket was quite a sight with all the bikes outside, when Inverclyde Velo arrived a couple of them had to hang their bikes from the tree as there was no other space! After the West Kilbride turn got dropped then almost got back on a couple of times when it flattened out before it going uphill again, tough going so more incentive than ever to lose some weight this winter. I'll be saying the exact same thing next week too!
  12. I aim to be out. Alan T was doing a good job of recruiting at the track league so there might be a new member coming along too. If any other potential new members are reading this thread then this ride would be the ideal introduction to the club.
  13. I should probably have had a recovery ride but with the weather so nice i couldnt resist. Although with hanging off the back all the way from the top of Port Glasgow onwards and thats after taking the short cut too (with Ian and Alan still beating me to the top by some distance) some might say i had an easy ride anyway, however it didnt feel easy!
  14. Still finding the B's tough although a bit better than last week. Slight improvement with the 60 laps points managing the dizzying heights of 3 points rather than a single 1. Next up was a 30 lap scratch which i managed to get a 2nd in so pretty pleased with that then last was also a 30 lap scratch but after a turn at the front i drifted towards the back then the pace increased and ended up drifting off the back - tried to get back on for few laps but imy legs were done by then so ended up chucking it with 5 to go. Chapeau to Danny who got a 1, 2 and 3rd in the Bs.
  15. Well done everyone sounds like a good race and well organised. 8th is a great result, particularly coming after a PB ride the day before in the Georgetown Cup. Stage racer in the making!
  16. Finally got round to signing up, only 8 places remaining for the APR, 7 for the novice, 40 for the ladies and the TT is full. If Paul is helping with the seeding again this year i'd just like to take this opportunity to remind him how far behind i am going up the Clune every Thursday night!
  17. Tough night in the Bs but good to be back 60 lap points (a single point was the highlight of my night!) and then a couple of 30 lap scratch. I was about a half lap behind on the first but the second i could at least contest the sprint. Found it really tough with the changes in pace, hopefully that will get a bit easier with a bit more practice. Also need to start doing some core work again (which ive neglected all summer) because i forgot how much the track takes it out of your body!
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdff9EbX65Y the fast flat bit along the Stirling road with Billy taking one 30 sprint and Greg the other
  19. Great stuff. Does this mean they can wear champs jerseys if they are racing at the track league?
  20. Khyber Pass . Obviously i only let everyone overtake me so there would be some climbing footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4zCHXkMdzc My internet connection isnt great so had to make the file size smaller so the upload wouldnt take too long, bit of a loss in picture quality as a result.
