  1. I would check in ....yesterdays headlines revealed 15 passengers on EasyJet flight did not get to board as the flight was overbooked and it seems standard practice to overbook flights to account for cancellations etc. I had left it late as I wasn't prepared to give Mr O'Leary an extra £14 for the priviledge of choosing which screaming wean I got to sit next to, hopefully I won't regret it.
  2. Cheers Iain, will go onto the event web-site and see if I can get that.
  3. What's the script with pre-ride registration picking up numbers and the like. Do you need to do something IT wise or is it taken care of the day before or something?
  4. I'm planning on a trip to Glasgow on the Sunday to just watch the race, easy to see various parts of it strolling round and plenty of pubs for pit stops as required. Anybody else of a similar mind? Sorry Chung - clear thread hijack but as Billy has already rained on your parade clear precedent has been set.
  5. Aye good to get back out with the bunch and good training trying to hold Dapper Darryls wheel after Stewarton. As I had not suffered enough finished off the day with the mini tour of Flanders route up by Beith golf course. Cracking day all round.
  6. Cheer up Iain...if I am not there for 09:00 just proceed along the track. Bring food ....there may be a cafe stop in Stewarton but don't know if big enough or open on Sunday but the treacle scones are recommended.
  7. 09:00 club rooms, Kilbirnie, Ardeer, Stewarton, sewing bee route to Clarkston Road, Uplawmoor etc. Quiet country roads lots of which have been resurfaced. Distance variable as bail out options aplenty.
  8. Similar to George it was that long ago I can't properly recall but pretty sure I have paid on both accounts. Some clarity as opposed to shaming by naming who is short is probably in order.
  9. Local and lumpy would suit me better but don't change on my account....
  10. Post mount has raised threaded bosses integral to the frame. Flat mount has no raised boss with the brake mounted flush to fork and chain stay. Flat mount I suppose will impart less dynamic force under braking however as Billy said it is probably an "aero" (ha-ha) and aesthetic "improvement" which has become the new standard.
  11. Aye the potential heat is a concern - I had a quick look at "cool" vests similar to what we have for Mollie the dog, it's lightweight, you wet it and it keeps her cool. Simple, however there seems to be nothing practical for humans/cycling, I know the pros' were wearing ice vest type things in one of the GT's a couple of years ago but other than that seems to be nothing that's actually practical.
  12. Andy, will roll out towards Dalry at 0900hrs presumably meet you somewhere on the road then double back to meet the bunch who should still be on the track...what could possibly go wrong........
  13. Andy, Was going to roll down the track to RV with bunch but could roll out towards Dalry before hand if you are cycling down. Darryl, I am assuming you are taking track to KilB and most direct route to Dalry?
  14. Very sad news indeed. Like lots of us I only knew Alex on the bike but even though could tell he was a great character and absolutely full of life. A great loss to his family and friends, my thoughts are with them.
  15. Should be out, if not at club room will be at Bowfield.
  16. Sorry for not pursuing this....have been off work with cold for last few days. Assuming I am fit Saturday might be a no go for me, the other possible stumbling block is without Paul McD there may not be a navigator unless someone else is confident of route or can do a Garmin download and work from that. Given the above I will leave for others to thrash out the details or whether to post an alternate ride if this suits the majority. If I have recovered sufficiently I would hope to be out at some point but will just need to wait and see.
  17. Is anybody up for AA on either Saturday or Sunday. Involves drive down to Minishant but after that barely a car to be seen. Can negotiate meeting time if others interested. Warning: may not contain the Erskine Bridge.

  19. Finally a breach in the hive collective .... As we are not dodging traffic or stopping for traffic lights on the "north side" I hope to join youse may even see some quiet country roads local to the club rooms. Billy - hill 3 is Swinlees....
  20. For foxes glacier mints the Erskine Bridge.....again!
  21. Good write up by Paul and have to say it was a cracking day on the bike through great countryside and with good company. As Paul mentioned there were a few mishaps along the way with the biggest being the eating part, mainly existed on garbage and E numbers and we must be the 3 biggest numpties of the audax given that we rode through Alynwick and loads of eateries whilst all starving and had to endure lasagne-gate at Coldstream. For whatever reason I felt pretty fresh at the end but suspect this was to do with quite a favourable wind and not just the one emitting from Paul. All told I reckon I could do a 400 but less sure of my willingness just the riding through the night part seems a bit ......daft, but that said I would probably allow myself to get talked into it. To add to Pauls list of lessons. After a rubbish nights sleep, chilling out with a bottle of beer when I got home rather than going to bed wired would probably have been a help. Up early today and got loads done in the garden but I will crash and burn soon.....
  22. Aye lights are getting charged up....
