David Thomson reacted to P McDonald in ARRAN
Another very memorable Arran, in this case it was bigger than childbirth, bigger than wedding day, this was the mighty SA for my gal Laura. First female in Hall of Fame so pretty special one.
I reckon with Jan and Andy we've got the pacing down to a T, this was the smoothest SA I've done, no rush, no stress just an incredibly even paced ride, and thanks to the guys for a fantastic day out and their total commit to the team effort. If she didn't make it abundantly clear, Laura is truly made up and very grateful for this life experience.
The first hour in early morning was truly magical with very little wind and incredible views down to Ailsa Craig.
Roll on the next guided tour of Arran from your dedicated hosts Jan, Andy and me, would be a pleasure to get more inductees through the summer.

David Thomson got a reaction from KennyS in Colombian cyclist's refused visa's to UK
Can’t believe this is actually true. Quite embarrassing for the UK. There is an email at the bottom of the road.cc news article for the UK embassy in Colombia.

Not to say it didn't hurt as it did but I could breath all the way round

David Thomson got a reaction from Richard in thursday 11th
Was a good ride. Managed to get all the way to BoW where I sensibly decided to head for home before I passed out from the exertion (from some Class A wheel sucking). Massive improvement considering the furthest I have got this year is the new roundabout just after Bishy

David Thomson reacted in For sale; Colnago
Very lightly used colnago for sale.
This bike has recently had a new rear mech fitted due to poor bike maintenance and new rear wheel due to poor bike handling.
This bike has hardly been over 25mph and hasn't done any climbing at speed.
There has been a lot of spray been thrown up at the front of the bike due to a lot of wheel sucking.
Will come with 120 euro bottle cage and a free lawyers fees if you have been on the wrong side of the law.
I am looking for £3500 for it, due to the prestige of the current rider and the extras that are getting thrown in.
Thanks

Sorry buyer has pulled out! Need sale asap to fund my new bike adventure. I'm buying a tandem as I can't power a bike with just my two legs and extra pair is needed!

David Thomson reacted to Gummers in Reliability 4 - The Wallplanner Run
Good question Ian! I'm going to have a go at answering.
"Wallplanner", from the English "wall-planner" meaning "wall planner" derived from the Latin "wallus plannus". This popular Victorian passtime provided an excellent opportunity for victorians to travel around, usually "by cycle" (later to become known as "bicycle") generally planning walls and stuff. Hence the sport of bicycling was born, later to be known as cycling. The pass time became less popular following a rather excessively enthusiastic russian cycling group who following a trip to eastern germany established a Berlin based wall planning group who created a highly controversial and ultimately divisive exhibition piece in the early 1950's. This now minority hobby is usually limited to private dwelling places and some offices and usually involves checking internal walls for any plans for cycling or "by cycling" for those of a more traditional orientation. I hope this helps? Any questions, Wikipedia is a great source, as well as the Museum of Wall Planning
