    roof carrier

Ian I have 3 of these and don't have any problems with them. They are strong and secure. I sell them in my shop and the ones on ebay are slightly more than my cost price, if you are buying from MountBlanc outlet I suggest you make sure they are new and not recon. Although this should not be a problem with quality. Hope this helps
  3. I am going to Tenerife this summer and would like to know if anybody has any experience of routes or guide company for road or MTB on the south of the island. Thanks Martin
  4. Hi James, coming to this thread a bit late. If you still need a bike rack I have one going spare. Also if you need roof bars for the car call me at work (0141 427 6517) my company Rattray Motor Spares sells and hires roof bars and boxes. Martin
  5. Hi Guys, I've been following your training schedule and I know I'm not joining in all this training madness but I kinda agree with Mark and Allan. Why not try the hill from Lochwinnoch over to Kilmalcom or from Lochwinnoch up to Muirsheil visitors/info centre for the old mines, this 2nd route is at least 3 miles long and the climbs is only about 300m on a very quiet road. Hope this helps.
  6. Hope you scouting went well. As I said this morning I'm jealous as I would like to be there but work gets in the way. If this event becomes an annual event can it be on a weekend where possible so that us "mortals" can join in? Anyhoo good luck to all, and may the best dressed team win!!
  7. Don't worry about it Tony I only posted at the last minute this morning mote in hope than expectation. I think I followed nearly the same route as you and enjoyed it, met up with Surley Steve and friends near the Braes car park who were scouting a course for Fridays Fun Day. Fotys look good! Sums the day up.
  8. Tony I hope to join you, see you at Miller st at 9

    Spied a Wheeler

Richard from the North side spotted on Paisley Rd this morning at 8.30am fully resplendant in Wheelers livery chasinng buses.
  10. Slime liquid works very well, but I'm not sure if it can easily be put into a tyre with presta valves. I use'd it on my MTB when I had the old wheels with schrades valves. I had to remove the valve core to pour it into the tube so on a presta tube this is going to be tricky. The liquid is quite heavy and you can feel the wheel out of ballance when you move off if you are stopped at lights or a junction for a time, although this is worth putting up with on a commute or if out at night and want to avoid punctures.
  11. Mark, as a Ridley Orion owner who only has one road bike I have ridden it through the last 3 winters. The first without mud guards and last 2 with the new Crud ones. Your frame is carbon (essentialy plastic), and therefore a more sensible material for the winter than any type of metal or metal alloy. All the components are alloy with a weather proof finish otherwise they would corrode with due to our normal crappy "summer" weather. I wash my bike down after every wet ride summer or winter and except from a little salt leeching at the lowest spoke hole an each wheel after a very wet ride have never had any problems with corrosion or siezed fittings in 3 years. My wheels I view as wear and tear replaceable items due to the brake wear so the leeching and any associated corrosion is not too much to worry about. What I'm trying to say is just get out and ride!
  12. I would like to say thanks and well done for organising todays event to Kenny and Martin. Only 1 accident put a cloud over an anotherwise cracking day. I hope the injured rider is not hurt too badly and is up and about soon. I know all other club members that helped out feel the same as I do!! Thanks and well done again guys.
  13. Martin, I am only free up till 11am (but from 7.30/8am onward).
  14. I'm free to help out. Just let me know where to meet up and at what time.
  15. Well done to all today esp. to Greg for the up hills and Kay for the down hills. I'm glad that everybody enjoyed the ride, would you be up for it again in a few weeks?

    Clothing order

Jan, sorry I missed the order collection today, had to work. Can I make alternate arrangements for later this week and will pay in collection.
  17. I have 2 cycle carriers that I can no longer use. The 1st one is an inverted carrier and will suit any bike as the bike is clamped on the saddle and handlebars. This one is all steel except the saddle holder which is plastic. The 2nd one is all steel with 2 alloy brackets on the wheel holders. It will take skinny wheels and a max. down tube diameter of around 55-60mm. Both carriers will fit standard steel roof bars, the inverted one will fit alloy "aero" roof bars but I'm not sure if the upright one will. Both carriers have sat in my shed for a few years and except for some curd have no rust and are in good condition. I'm asking £15 each.
  18. I echo Kennys comments and would add that the hillside and woodland overlooking Glenburn/Foxbar and Elderslie would make for a good downhill area with plenty of scope for lots of technical sections.
  19. Sorry Jann, all medium please.
