  1. Mark Tried to email you yesterday but your inbox seems full. I saw Mike Ferguson at the week-end. He is hoping to ride but, if he can be given an earlyish start time, he is happy to help out in the kitchen, as am I - we've done it before. Mary is able to help also. Mike is hopeful Betty can supply some baking and we will bring sandwiches and/or soup according to the weather. Iain
  2. Thanks again to Jann for consistently outstanding support & expertise! As Alan says, a decent if slightly soggy night - great effort & PB from James. Only two more of these to go - the nights are fair drawin' in as they say. Iain
  3. Good to see you out again Colin! I was in a group of three (with Kenny Christie) who passed the other way between BOW and Brookfield - we shouted once we recognised it was you, but the moment was passed. Hope to see you on the road soon. Iain
  4. Many thanks to John for doing the necessary to let the rest of us ride. Well done to all on a breezy night which started out damp, but dried out on the way round - good fun coming back! Iain
  5. Thanks indeed to Jann and Alan T for doing the biz. Well done to all on a glorious night to be on a bike! A testy headwind ensured a difficult return leg, but a real pleasure to ride on a largely perfect surface (really only the wooded section before/after Formakin is a bit rough) with virtually no traffic to speak of. Great to see Hamish and Adam out and riding well in the heat! Iain
  6. Hi David The start is just along from the Wheelhouse restaurant beside the Langbank roundabout on the westferry (at the bottom of the hill as you come down from Houston). Folk usually park around the Wheelhouse. Mary and I hope to be along. Iain
  7. Hi Tony - have a TT at Stirling that morning so won't be able to join you. Have a good day - hope to see you on the road soon! Iain
  8. Well done to all and thanks to Greig and David for haudin' up and timekeeping respectively. Great to see so many younger riders, returnees, PBs and visitors. As Alan T says, the wind arrived late afternoon from nowhere, making it a tough shift on the road out and a blast on the way back. I'm quite glad Alan M had a tough day out on Sunday and even more pleased he doesn't (yet) have a TT bike! Iain
  9. About time too Stuart! Look forward to seeing you. Iain
  10. Thanks indeed to Jann and Kenny S - great to see Ramsay and flash bicycle back! Some really good efforts on the night with PBs & a sub 17 for Alan M. Iain
  11. Thanks Jann and Iain. Mary and I are both planning to ride tonight's TT. Iain
  12. Mary's planning to ride - I'll give a hand as required. Iain
  13. A 20 strong bunch for this year's edition in fine borders countryside. JWCC/ Renfrewshire represented by Joyce & David, Campbell H, Iain Couttie and me. A ride of two halves, the outward consistently wet, the return leg consistently dry with a measure of warm sunshine to boot. Really nice friendly bunch, offering safe wheels to follow and working well together. All civilized till the usual gallop up the Wiston climb around 85 miles - honours went to a frighteningly fit 21 year old, riding a steel commuting bike! Really strong.. perhaps not surprisingly so given his 3-4 times per week commute from Carluke to Glasgow. A fine route as usual and fabulous food and hospitality from Morag & Dennis - always a highlight of my cycling year. Thanks again! Iain
  14. Thanks to the efficient team of Kenny S, Ian McG and Richard for timekeeping, sorting out the order and haudin' up - without volunteers there can be no racing - much appreciated! Well done to all on a breezy night - I wonder if, in part, the PBs reflect the improved sections of road surface. Should be even better when the fastest & slowest sections are sorted! Iain
  15. Fantastic result and time Al! Well done that man. Iain
  16. Vicky Begg - In the cafe @Strathaven - 1pm yesterday - like us - dodging the rain, waiting for friends who were marshalling the Anderside Classic nearby. Iain
  17. Hi Dennis, thanks again for this - I'm planning to be along - looking forward to it as usual - a fine route - hope the weather plays ball! Iain
  18. Ps. my apologies to Chris for his help haudin' up and with the timekeeping too. Iain
  19. 14 Riders tonight in warm and sunny conditions with a stiff headwind on the outward leg. Some PBs and other decent times as follows: Women: 1. Emma 19:54 2. Carol 21:26 3. Karen 21:45 4. Jann 26:13 Youth?/Jet: 1. Hamish 19:48 Men: 1. Iain Couttie 16:58 2. Billy 17:29 PB 3. Alan T 17:49 PB Other times in order of Start: Greig S 22:44 John S 19:53 Paul L 19:40 Dave 20:47 Alan M 18:26 Ian McGinty 18:06 Well done to all - great to see some new faces and some familiar returnees. Some notable PBs, great efforts from Emma, Hamish and Alan M in his first ever TT and on a road bike to boot! £30 to club coffers via Jann, with a couple of folk to pay double next time out. Iain
  20. I'm not looking to ride tonight so will swing by to give a hand with timekeeping/haudin' up as required. Iain
  21. Hi Tony - great to see this fine run back - really missed it last year! Unfortunately we can't do this date as we will be in Yorkshire for the TDF. Anyway, have a great day - we may try to find another day to do it this year. Iain & Mary
  22. Life's too short for the cafe at Strachur (IMO)! Last couple of times I've been round that way I have eaten at the Creggans Inn round the corner (towards Cairndow). The bar food is excellent and reasonably priced, service first class and very welcoming of cyclists. It also has outside tables in the event of sunshine! Iain
  23. Fantastic efforts all round - chapeau to the Jets & coaches! They are scarily quick as it is - the future is terrifying Iain
  24. Well done to all and thanks to Jane, Graham & Mary for timekeeping. Another routinely outstanding time from Al and a great effort from Carol to pip the women's prize. P.S. I owe dosh for tonight - will pay next time - Mary omitted to settle on my account - must be jet lag! Iain
