  1. Meant to say thanks to James for holding/pushing off. Cheers, R
  2. Cheers to Chris for timekeeping. I did pay Jann right at the end of the evening. Cheers, R
  3. Al, Sorry my pump broke your valve! I did say it was cr*p. R
  4. Not going to make it, as I'll be out drinking beer and eating curry, or if the night goes well, I'll be eating beer and drinking curry. R
  5. Thanks Paul. I'll get you some cash on Saturday. Looking forward to it. Need to have a chat about team tactics etc! Are the Bute races all EOL? Cheers, R
  6. It's the last league 10TT of the season tonight at the West Ferry. Forecast looking not too bad. I'm hoping to ride, on a promise that I'll timekeep at the Georgetown on Tuesday 31st (two weeks time). Hope to see a few down tonight. Cheers, Ramsay
  7. Cheers guys. Was a strange race of just basically spinning round the course at a good steady pace and then a gallop at the end. There were practically no attempted breaks of any sort, so it all stayed together. I spent most of the race in the top 20-30 and usually in the top ten, just to try and stay out of danger (the bunch was a bit jumpy). When we turned onto the main road with about 2-3miles to go I stayed well in the top 5-10 and luckily avoided a wee crash at a roundabout. Going into the last corner, with 700-800m to go, I was actually second, so sat up a bit and dropped back to third and was tinking that I was still too far forward. We then seemed to coast (at about 30Mph!) for a bit and I very quickly looked up and saw the finish line, so made a bit of room and then just went for it. I actually thought I had it (and possibly eased a bit), but a couple of metres from the line I saw Martin Lonie (former pro with Linda McCartney) lunge for the line and pip me by half a wheel! So I guess I am happy to have finished second, but can't yet get the feeling of "what if?" or "if only!" out of my head. Not the sort of person to let it get to me, in fact it will make me far more determined the next time. I've been racing bicycles of various sorts since 1992 and I still haven't ever won an open event, so knowing that I've been that close (the closest since 1994) is a good sign! Well done to Jim and Paul in their race. Both well placed in a star studded line up. The season still has 6 weeks to go, so bring it on!! Cheers, Ramsay
  8. Martin, As with Jim, I'll be along to help, but need a bit less time off for punishment slightly earlier in the afternoon. R
  9. What a great run last night. An absolutely cracking night with great company etc. I didn't get back to the car until 9:15, by which time it was getting fairly dark! Looking forward to more of that! Cheers, R
  10. I'll be out for a spin and some hills.
  11. Cheers guys. I have actually got Coninental Tubs and glue/cement already. I had heard bad reports about tape, so went for the old fashioned cement. Cheers, R
  12. Well done Paul, great result. Sounds like a good hard shift from Jim as well. Good effort. Cheers, R
  13. Sounds good Paul. See you there.
  14. Chung, Thanks. That's what I thought. I wasn't concerned about "contact" punctures on the spoke holes, more just the very high pressure bursting/bulging the tyre on the holes. The interwebthingy searchs don't say cover them (or indeed mention them at all!), but I just wanted to be sure! Cheers, R
  15. Anyone fancy an early spin round the Darvel transmitter hill route on Saturday morning? It's a 70mile run and I'm planning a good fresh pace. Aiming to leave Beith at about 8ish. Would like some company. Cheers, R
  16. Can anyone tell me if I need to cover the spoke holes on my rim before fitting a tubular tyre? The wee diagram on the tyre instructions and the cement/glue instructions don't show it, but I don't want to damage either my tyres or rims. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, R
  17. Thanks to Ian and Chris for timekeeping and holding/pushing off etc. As always, much appreciated. Cheers, Ramsay
  18. Kenny, I'll be down to help. Can do anything (wel.....). Cheers, R
  19. Bit of a late post, but is anyone riding tonight? 18:45 start at the West Ferry, for 10 miles of fun (or 7.5 if you turn at the wrong roundabout ) Hope to see a few down. Cheers, Ramsay
  20. Good luck tomorrow Jim. Hope the weather is kind to you. R
  21. Thanks for timekeeping Jann. Well done to Ian McG and Kenny for PBs. Turned out to be a lovely night for timetrialing. Cheers, Ramsay
  22. Davie, The course is on the A8 from the end of the M8 along to the Newark roundabout at Port Glasgow and then back. There is fast moving traffic (as it's a dual carraigeway), but it's a fast and very nearly flat course. TheWest Ferry is the start finish area, which is generally around the roundabout under the end of the M8 (and where the A8 then starts). Actual start is under the railway bridge on the Bishopton road (about 100m from the roundabout) and the finish is on the off ramp/slip road back down to the round about from the A8. The wee cark park at the West Ferry (river side of the roundabout) is where everyone usually meets/parks etc. It does however have a bit of a reputation for other activities, so hanging around too much in lycra is not always advisable! (Unless of course that is your sort of thing. ) Cheers, R
  23. I'll be down to ride. Can I suggest we start sharp at 18:45. See you later. Cheers, R
