  3. I have a Halfords one which is good for high torque and a b&q one for the low torque (2.5nm - 25nm). Both fairly cheap if I remember, but seem to work well.

  6. Course is quite good. The main road stretch is not too long and the rest of it is on fairly quiet roads. Hill finish if I remember correctly, although nothing like Stobo!! I've entered the Drumclog Hilly TT on the Saturday and will take a spin over to watch the APR on the Sunday. Far too early in the season to be doing both in a weekend (although, given status of dodgy knee and only two bikes rides in last three weeks, even the Hilly TT may be a step too far by 9th of March!)
  7. Greig, I have a few things to donate to the raffle. As we are not going, I will need to arrange to meet up. If Elaine is out with you guys this weekend I will send the stuff with her. Cheers, R
  8. I have used loads of different tyres over winter. I often just ran the Michelin Pro 3 right through the year, although they are not as puncture resistant as true winter tyres. I then spent a few winters on Michelin Krylon Carbon, which have a bit more punture resistance. The last two years I have been on Bontrager Hardcase, which seem very hard weaing and I have not had any punctures! (From memory about £18-£20 from Dooleys) R
  9. James, Thank you, very much appreciated. I did mean to try and get some locations of specific holes, but got caught up with a lot of things at the end of Nov and beginning of Dec, then Christmas etc... Anyway, some of the very worste were actually patched up in early Dec, but there are still some shocking areas (both Renfrewshire and Inverclyde). Looking forward to stretches of new surface. Cheers, R P.S. - As a civil engineer, I can advise that patching and resurfacing would last far longer if time was taken to sort the road foundation and the road drainage in the problem areas. I realise that this is far more costly and time consuming for each repair, but may save money in the long term, especially with claims for tyres, suspension etc on the rise (my colleague just claimed against Inverclyde a few weeks ago for a monster pothole ripping the sidewall out of a brand new winter tyre!).

Yeah, came back from skiing feeling great, so went out for a good blast on Tuesday, Felt good all the way round, but as soon as I got off the bike my left knee was sore. Now been sitting around with ice packs and ibuprofen for the last two days, when I could have been out on the road!!! Hopefully a gentle spin on the turbo today. Hey ho! You live and learn. Well, sometimes you learn! A wee bit of help.

    Build week 5 to 8

Got b*****y tendonitis on my left knee, so having to sit out a few days!!! :angryfire Billy, can I just download new record sheets from BC? Stupidly wrote on the last one before copying it! Cheers, R
  12. Well done Alan and Duncan. Great that the JWCC colours were flying within hours of the turn of the year. Great result as well!! :banana :banana :banana

    Kit etc

George, I think there was talk of a kit order, but not sure. I think Jann and Kenny S were sorting it. You can use a plain skinsuit, but a JWCC one looks better! Your BC membership form should be sent to the secretary, who was Ian Manson and now is Jann Lapsley (although I don't know if BC knows it is Jann yet?). Whoever gets it will either send it to you directly, or contact you to allow you to collect. Cheers, R
  14. Elaine and I now unfortunately can't make it. So I guess that is two more tickets for others. Have a good night. R&E
  15. Please discuss! See me? See happy?
  16. To complicate further, we didn't get a 58cm! Can I also ask that this thread is left for booking and lending, and not size discussions please. I have started a new thread specifically for this. Ta. Cheers, R
  17. The 56cm and the 52cm are currently on loan until the 11th January 2013. 60cm, 54cm and 50cm all currently available. Iain Couttie - If you are still interested in the 56cm, you can have it from the 11th Jan for a month.
  18. All, Apologies it has taken a while, but we are now up and running with the lending of the 5 track bikes the club now has (60cm, 56cm, 54cm, 52cm and 50cm). This lending is strictly for fully paid up "first claim" JWCC club members only. The lending period will be per calendar month on a first come/first served basis, with no "block booking" allowed. Adults will be asked for a £10 donation towards the upkeep and maintenance of the bikes, whereas juniors/youths will get them for free. Adults will need to sign and return (email will be accepted) a "disclaimer", and parents/guardians will need to do this on behalf of all juniors/youths. There will be no exceptions to this. There will also be a log book that goes with each bike, where the person receiving the bike signs to say they have received it in working condition and the person handing it over signs to say it was in good condition when handed over. The bikes come with two cogs and no pedals. When changing the cogs (if needs be), fitting the pedals and adjusting the bars/saddle/seat post, please do it carefully and with the correct tools. If in doubt, please get a qualified bike mechanic (such as Dooleys Cycles) to do this, as we do not want the bikes or the bolts/threads to be damaged for future users. We realise that the bikes will be subject to wear and tear, and that accidents do happen, therefore, please be honest and let me know if something needs fixed or replaced. Thanks again have to go to Dooleys Cycles, SportScotland, Renfrewshire Council and the Johnstone Sports Hub for the funding for the bikes. I hope all make good use of these bikes and enjoy. Cheers, Ramsay (on behalf of the Committee) P.S. - I have been advised that the bikes do appear on the small side for their size. i.e. - the 56cm is a bit smaller that a 56cm road frame, and I personally ride a 58cm road frame, but the 60cm track bike fits me. Happy to let people see them for size.
  19. Well done Greig. Just called to be told that there are no sessions left for Accred 3 for January!!
  20. Greig, Nice one. Can you put Elaine and I down as provisional. We may be away, but if not then yep! If I'm there it will be for only a few drinks, as there is the final reliability the next day. Elaine can drive! Cheers, R
