    Good turn out for a chilly evening, and some good rides as well. A few new faces on the Georgetown, so well done to all. 2-ups 1 - Ross & Iain Couttie - 17:36 2 - Ian McG & Mark - 17:46 3 - Colin & Andy - 18:37 4 - Carol & Dave - 21:44 Singles 1 - Alan - 16:58 2 - Lewis Mul - 17:09 3 - George - 18:25 4 - John S - 20:22 5 - Danny Mul - 20:48 6 - Elaine M - 21:06 7 - Emma - 22:37 Thanks to James MacD and Kenny, for holding up and assisting in timekeeping. Cheers, R
  2. Taken a bit longer than planned, but we now have two good stopwatches for the club. I'll be trialling one at the Georgetown tomorrow night. Thanks again to SportsScotland and Renfrewshire Council. R

I'll time keep with new club stopwatches. First rider off at 6:30. R
  4. All, As the clocks change tonight (well, the early hours of tomorrow morning), there is no requirement to use mud guards on club runs until the end of October. I would suggest that if it is raining or if the roads are wet, then putting them back on might make the run a bit more comfortable. Don't forget to set your alarms to take account of the clock change. Enjoy. R

well done guys. Not a good day for racing.
  7. Iain, 1 - nothing. Usually just set up. For long TT's and triathlons it is incredibly uncomfortable to stay in a good aero position. 2 - The gains of a even a great TT bike well set up is relatively marginal, compared with training harder to just be fitter and stronger. It does help, but.... 3 - My TT bike is listed as the same size, but is considerably lower at the front (much shorter head tube), so I can get into a far more aero position. It is a trade off between aero and comfort (especially on your neck!). I looked a lot at my position and then worked out what size of frame I needed to get the position I wanted. There is also the psycological aspect of having a great bike, which I always think makes you go quicker! Cheers, R
  8. Blimey, the weather is being a right pain in the bum for racing. Would be a good day for cyclocross/mtb fun in the snow!
  9. As party of our involvement with the Renfrewshire Sports Network and the Johnstone Community Sports Hub I have been sent the attached. Active Communities, Active Lives Strategy 2013-18.pdf
  10. Richie, Can't remember where James is based, but it is bery likely that it was him. Even as a pro he has been racing the Scottish races for a lot of years now. I have certainly taken a good kicking from him in what was the Super 6, as I know Paul McD and others have. I think he was doing a lot on the track earlier in the year (may still be). R
  11. Al and all, Whilst the survey for kit showed there was the majority in favour of at least reviewing the kit design (if not actually committing to change at this stage), the reality is that none of the (volunteer) committee members have time outside their normal committee duties, not to mention their work/personal life. As a result, the redesign of kit has not been progressed. There were two club members that showed an interest at the end of last year in taking on the re-design, but as yet the committee have not seen any of their proposals. I would suggest that we order kit now (old design) if people want/need for the coming race season, as the new design may take some considerable time to agree. The caviat on new kit orders is that it may be out of date shortly. Cheers, R P.S. - there is plenty of space on the committee for members to volunteer and then run the re-design as part of the committee.
  12. Greig, Thanks. Will leave it up to Kate to decide which she would like. 52cm next week or 54cm the week after? Cheers, R
  13. Kate - Sent you a PM. Fergus - 56cm due back next Friday (22nd March) so you are next.
  14. Simon, Welcome. Asolutely no problems about turning up and going out with one of the bunches on a club run. I would suggest going with the "30 milers", who usually meet at 09:30 at the club rooms on Miller Street, Johnstone. I think that tomorrow's run is posted up as "Elaine's birthday run" under the club runs section. Hope you enjoy the run and make it a regular event. Cheers, Ramsay

    Strava

Worth a read! http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-21716686 The second paragraph states "Two deaths have been linked to the service." What they haven't mentioned is that a serious knee tendon injury has also been linked to the service, which has resulted in the rider not even sitting on a bike for two and a half months, more than likely leading to a second missed race season in a row! TT ENTRY FORMS?

George, The fastest section for the TT's should be at a BC event. If I haven't done a BC event at that distance, then I write a line or two in at the bottom of the page as "confined event time(s)". R
  18. Fergus - If you are paying membership, we would prefer a bank transfer rather than paypal, as we get charged for all paypal uses. Please see Jann's post http://www.johnstone-wheelers.co.uk/thebunch/index.php?/topic/5466-club-subscription-fees-2012-2013/ In terms of the 56cm bike, it is out with another member until 20th of March. I can put you down as next if you wish. There is 60cm if you want to try that. Greig - No problems. I'll email you the disclaimer later and you can pick the bike up from the clubrooms. Cheers, R
  19. Jann, Do they have JWCC on them at all? If so, 1 large/x-large cap and 2 pairs of the shorter socks (size 45). Thank you very much. R
  20. Well done Greig and Elaine Sandison for organising a great night.
  21. Yep, will put them in the car and bring them round with the other stuff. Possibly tonight (Thursday). Cheers, R
  22. Tom, Not sure if they are DHB, but you are welcome to try them. Let me know if you woud like to come across a see them. Cheers, R
  23. Harry, I'll take the black set thanks. I'll PM you about collecting them. Cheers, R
