Fabulous run again today with a perfect cafe stop for us all 🙂
A rather cold start to the morning but it soon warmed up as we toured around the roads of Renfrewshire & beyond!
We even manage to bump into an ex-Wheeler - Tony "the farm watch specialist" Carrigan, who rode with us for a wee bit from the Bowfield, looking well & as usual exploring the back roads ...... I think he would have approve todays route indeed! 🙂
Unlike last Sunday, no mechanical or puncture to speak of on todays ride   ..... so rather boring on that front 🙂
Thanks again to David for the route .... & everyone for the wheel/company this morning ......
I think there was talk of Arran next Sunday ...... I can already picture Paul McDonald's big grin if/when he hears this 🙂
P.S Great photos by the way folks 🙂
    Cheers

Set off nice & early this morning from my house & got to the clubroom 0855 ...... not a soul to be seen except from a few dog walkers .... oops, have I got the time/date wrong? ........ so rode round the Miller Street estate as I didn't fancy standing on my toad ..... luckily by the time I came back, there were 13 fellow club mates had already turned up waiting ...... phew!
So, 14 of us - Alan T, Ali M, Andy R & James R (Jets), Anthony, Carol M, Carol & David, Frank, Gary, Graham, Jullie, Mitch & myself set off for sunny Troon!
Working well together & setting a nice pace where everyone was comfortable ..... A few stronger riders decided to take longer spells, which was no doubt welcome by some and me especially 🙂 I only manage ONE turn on the front all day ....... riding on the front is so over-rated anyway 🙂
It wasn't as lumpy as last week but still some drags in parts ..... Jullie left us in Kilmeurs, leaving 13 to continue on our way to Troon!
The blueberry Cafe is always one of my favourite, great baking & proper china for my tea ..... how posh! Service was great and quick too considering there were 13 hungry cyclist all wanting fed at the same time!
By the time we left the place the weather has gone much warmer too, so off comes the layers to enjoy the sun a bit.
The return leg just continue on where we left off earlier ...... I think Alan & Graham just sat on the front all the way back to the Bowfield before Ali made an attacked which was followed by young James, everyone then joined in and the descend down the Bowfield (second Sunday running) was fantastic ...... a wee regrouping at the bottom & we rode all the way back to the Johnstone again as we started in the morning!
Brilliant run again organised by David & Alan for leading on the return leg 🙂
Thanks to all for the wheels & company today ...... another cracker!
Cheers & thanks for reading ..... now for some photies courtesy of Carol & Graham

Great summary Chung. This was probably the shortest run we have done this year, but one of the lumpyist and it seemed longer. Mixture of road surfaces and different lanes always keeps it interesting.  Thanks for the company as usual and 4 of us sneaked in a post ride recovery refreshment in  Amarettos on the way home.

    Hi All,
Its been a while since I wrote anything on the bunch ..... so, I thought I would start again 🙂
I think this would be a good place to start :-)
A bunch of 8 met at the clubroom for David's wee tour - Bill, Carol & David, Carol, Frank, Garry, Tommy & myself set off for some back roads!
It started out a bit on the cold side but David soon got us warming up as the climbs started early ..... which kind of set the tone for today! But back roads does not mean bad roads, on the contrary.... some of the minor roads David had planned were in fact in much better conditions than a lot of the main roads. Whats not to like, smooth road with NOT much cars at all! Well done, David! 🙂
Some of the roads I'm sure was new to some of us & certainly for me ..... or at least not been on for quite some time.
We stayed as a bunch through out & even up the climbs .... ok, maybe the occasional "attackers" stretching their legs a little when the road goes up a bit. But nobody was getting too far ahead since no one, except David knows where we were going 😎
It wasn't long before we got to our designated cafe just outside Stewarton, this place never disappoint, tasty fresh baking & friendly service ..... we had to fight for the last remaining 3 fruit scones amongst ourselves ...... so to keep harmony & peace 🤪, I opted for a full scale lunch instead (even though it was only 11 am) & left the scones for others 🤥
Fed & watered ..... we made our way back to Johnstone with a more usual & direct route ..... brilliant & fun descend down the Bowfield! Then David suggest a wee detour to Bridge of Weir before we finish today's run off 👍
Thanks to David for organising & everyone else for the wheels & company ...... I had a good time today!
Cheers all & thanks for reading 🙂

    Hi Guys,
Having spent the last few years working abroad, I've now retired and returned home. Not wanting to turn into a full-blown couch potato, I'd like to re-join the mighty Wheelers. Assuming you may actually let me back in, can someone advise on how best to go about this please?
    Cheers,
    Frank

A bargain right enough Frank. If no wheelers take it I could share with the Jets - I'm sure one of them might be interested.

    Hi Guys,
I've got far too many bikes (according to the wife) so I've decided to get rid of some, starting with this.
It's a men's Trek, 52 frame, with 10 speed Tiagra gears and shifters, FSA chainset and unbranded brakes. It's in good condition, with only the odd mark or scuff. It would make a good winter bike as its got eyes for mudguards and a rack. Here's a pic of the actual bike.

I would keep it but it's too small for me.
150 quid for the full bike. Gotta be a bargain.
Bike now sold - many thanks to all who expressed an interest.
    Cheers,
    Frank

Martin - many thanks for the advice. I'd love to attend the AGM and curry. It'll be a good opportunity to catch up with old faces and meet some new ones.
Chung, Iain and Darryl -  thanks for the good wishes guys. Hopefully meet up on some bunch rides when I'm up to it.
Charlie - I'm definitely up for the Wednesday rides but I need to get fitter first. Been a few years since I've done any serious miles and I don't want to hold you back!
