Took up Tony's offer of an early start and tour of the back roads. 7 of us with Tony leading the way, John C, Tom, Martin S, Young Josh, new guy Dougie and myself heading out for a mystery tour. Not quite sure where we've been, but there was certainly a lot of left and right turns, and lots of ups and downs. We were arm-bushed by a herd of cows who had escaped out onto the roads where they were none too happy to see a group of cyclist muscling into there territory. As animals do, they decided to sh*t all over the road leaving us gingerly maneuvering around the obsticles they left behind. Heading back to the clubroom down the Bowfield where we meet Mike coming the other way, we all manage to stay together up till the point coming into Johnstone, so hopefully Tom got back O.K and well done to him for sticking with it after not been out on the bike for more 2 months. Well done also to Dougie on his first outing with the club and getting round without too much bother. 64 miles door to door (N. Mearns) with only 1 punture (Tom's cross bike) and 1 fall (Josh forgetting to un-clip before stopping). Not bad for a winter run. Really enjoyed that, thanks to Tony and see you all next Sunday. Cheers Chung

Hi Alan, As a matter of fact, I did so much cycling that 1 of my crank fell off. Most of the shots are like holiday snaps because I canny cycle and take photies at the same time. Its a skill I need to learn before I venture out again next time. Cheers Chung

Fantastic trip! Many thanks to Charlie for planning and organising the trip, along with Mathew for his translation service. Great place for cycling and a short holiday, definetly will go back again! Al, any chance of posting some of your "point and shoot" photies? I'll try and post some of mine if I can figure out how. Cheers Chung

Hi Richard, I am still trying to work out how I would get to Prestwick as well. So, you're not alone! Charlie mentioned that Campbell was giving me a lift, well, it's not confirmed yet. But I'm going to speak to Campbell tomorrow to work something out, and I'll factor you into the equation. Don't worry pal, we'll get something sorted. Does anyone have Big Al's contact number? Cheers Chung

Hi David & Mark, I have been using the clamp type Thule bike carrier for the last 7 years, both for my winter aluminum bike and my summer carbon bike with no serious issue at all. The only thing that the clamp does is that it scuffs the clear lacquer (which is cosmetic). This is caused by the bike actually moving slightly side to side while on transit, as it's not completely rigid which is a good thing. As a result, what I do now is wrap a piece of cloth around the down tube before clamping it. Previously, I was thinking of buying a fork mount carrier as well, but didn't after I read on the box that said "Not recommended for carbon fork". It might not be an issue any more but that was what it said at the time. As far as I know, Kenny Christie uses the fork mount carrier for his bike. Maybe worthwhile speaking to him. But I think both options are fine for carrying bikes on the roof. I think these big company will not put out products which will cause a lot of unnecessary complain from customer if the product don't work. If you are still in doubt, then the safest option would be put it in the boot of the car. Hope that help Cheers Chung

Hi Charlie, The rooms looks great! I'm happy with it as long as there are all single beds. When do you need the money for the rooms? Just give me a shout & I'll bring it with me when out with the bunch. Cheers Chung

Hi Charlie, If we are hiring from the Girona Cycle Centre in which the bikes are the Cannondale Six carbon bikes, then I'll need a size 52cm to fit me. I'll bring my own pedals, maybe even my saddle too. Here's a link to the geometry for the bike for anyone hiring as well: http://www.cannondale.com/gbr/eng/Produ ... 105-Triple Cheers Chung

Hi Ramsay, I take it you are fitting tubs onto your tubular wheels? As far as I know, you don't need to cover the holes on the rim if they are Tubular wheels. You only need rim tape if it's for clincher wheel's inner tubes. The underside (apply glue part) of the Tubulars are of fiber material which will not puncture when contact with the rim holes. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong! Cheers Chung

Hi Charlie, That's my flights booked & confirmed. I'm not taking my bike, so will need to hire one when over there. Come on, anyone else fancy to join in? Looking forward to it already. Cheers Chung

David, I've got one. You are more than welcome to borrow it. PM me to arrange for pick-up. Cheers Chung -
Excellent ride despite the wind and the closed cafe. We did eventually get some lunch in a bar and watched a bit of the tour on telly. Elaine, you were doing really well until the accident happened, hope you have a speedy recover and see you on the bike very soon. Thanks to Greig for the support drive, and the much needed chocolate bar when I was riding on empty. Regards Chung

Hi All, Do we have a start time and meeting location finalized? Also, does some-one have the post code of the meeting point as I will be driving up on the morning with the Sat-Nav to guide me. How long do you reckon the journey will take from Glasgow? Cheers Chung
