  1. ......... Says the man who rode the Marmotte a few weeks ago ...... didn’t knew you were that funny, David :-) Brilliant, see you on Sunday David! Cheers
  2. Hi All, Like Charlie said, a lot of folks will be over at Rothesay, so the regulars will be some what missing, but I'm still keen to get out, likewise with a few I've spoken to! So, I will be at the clubroom for 9am start, no idea where we're going, open to suggestion (can I just say that we've been to Largs 3 times for the last 4 weeks :-)) ......... weather forecast for Sunday a bit iffy at the moment, hopefully it'll improve & see who turns up then, eh! Please post if you fancy a soaking :-) Cheers Chung
  3. Hi Stuart, Good to hear you're making a return :-) I think membership renewal is usually October ..... Alan Mclean is the Member secretary these days & Robbie (Robster82) is the Kit Organiser, hope that helps! See you soon on the road Cheers
  4. Sorry, I assume that’s Gerard because of that cheeky grin & those “exquisite” colour socks :-)
  5. Well done to all who rode today! Chapeau & I love the photo of Graham & Gerard - looks to me like he was pinching Graham bum & loving it :-) ....... or maybe I’ve just got a filthy mind :-) Cheers Chung

    wahoo

Iain, I think Alan Mclean, Martin M & Glen uses Wahoo, so they should be able to give feedback! In terms of power meter, I’m sure it’ll work, it’s through “ant” compatibility usually, isn’t it! Not so sure about the Garmin HR strap though! Hope that helps :-)
  7. Craig, I’ll be sending you a PM later, don’t want to clog up this thread with other information!
  8. The pair of us - Glen & myself left Johnstone headed towards Stewarton via Bowfield & Lugton, then over to Fenwick for the Moscow circuit before coming back out onto the A77. Decided to head into Whitelee wind farm for a wee coffee stop, good call! But starting again was horrible as the wind & rain had turned for the worst when we came back out, lucky we were heading home by then! 90 wet km for me :-/ Still, much better than sulking in the house if I hadn’t gone out :-) Full winter bike with mudguards in August is the norm in West of Scotland I guess! Thanks for the company & wheel today, Glen! Hopefully my Kit will be dry in time for next Sunday’s photo shoot in Amaretto :-) Cheers
  9. Just in case anyone is coming out on this one, I’ve decided to stay this side of the river, so NOT crossing the bridge! Please meet at club room 9am for a run! :-) Cheers
  10. Nae worries, Colin! Most likely a tweak on route/destination, probably staying local rather than head over the river, so no meeting at the bridge unless weather better than forecast! Will confirm for sure tomorrow morning if passing the bridge! Cheers
  11. Oh dear, forecast looking a bit damp for tomorrow :-/ thought it might change ....... still time though! Anyway, I posted therefore I shall ride! Looks like it’ll be just Glen & me ...... better than a solo one for sure! 9am club room it is then, Glen! Rain coat & mudguards type of ride - pure Scottish summer ...... hurrah :-) Cheers Chung
  12. Hi All, I thought since a lot of the chaps will be riding some hills :-) over in France this Sunday, it would be good to show solidarity with our brothers of the 32T sprockets, that we would do some hills also to feel their pleasure & pain! The plan is to head North of the Bridge towards Kilcreggan & do some of the climbs over there, you know the usual - Colport, Whistlfield, Glen Fruinn etc. ........ maybe even that nasty one after Kilcreggan, when Iain McGinty took us up last time we were over there (but I can't recall exactly which left turn) Exactly how we play this, I haven't got an exact sequence yet, but we will fine tune it on the day :-) Anyway, 9am clubroom meet/start or 9.40-ish at the Bridge, I just hope there's still folks in Glasgow that want to go out on a ride, otherwise, it'll be a solo run for me :-) Cheers Chung
  13. 6 hardy souls went out this morning - Charlie, Colin, Glen, Iain Ginty, James & myself set off this wet damp morning looking for the elusive sun & to do a bit of cycling :-) Never made it as far as Aberfoyle, instead turned right at Gartmore & headed for Buchclyvie, then Balfron for the assault on the Crow (for me, 2nd time in 4 days :-0) A very much needed cafe stop at Clachan of Campsies, then made our way to Gt. George st. in the Westend to catch some proper racing. Dr. McLean joined us at Mugdock after his morning shift, perfect timing! Enjoyed a few laps of the pros, the wonderful folks on the street was handing out tea/coffee to the spectators, class act from the locals - warm the hands & heart on a fairly miserable day. But it did dried up in the end! Thanks for the wheels & company again today & liking the traditional Scottish weather once again, which I guess the Pro's must enjoyed as well :-) Cheers Chung
  14. See youse all 9am at the club room, for those meeting at the bridge - 9.40-ish I guess! Goes without saying, a cycling cap would be great for keeping the sprays off your eyes & waterproof cape “if” it rains! Please put on your Sunday best of Joansin’s blue/yellow, so we can show off the club colour on the road side on what is a global racing event that best showcase our people/city/country (even if it’s wet) ! :-) Really looking forward to it! Cheers Chung
  15. The weather will hopefully get better & improve ...... I have faith :-) Worst comes to worst, we can do what we did 4 years ago when watching the Commonwealth Games road race of the same route & the weather was awful on the day as well. We camped ourselves in a pub/cafe on Gibson Street, put the BBC live broadcast on the iPhone, when the peloton gets near, we all rushed out to cheers them on, once they’ve past, dive back inside etc. repeat thereafter :-) ....... that worked quite well & we even rode the circuit afterwards :-) Cheers
  16. Only needs 4 words - Not you again, Charlie :-) Hope you're OK! Girona all over again!
  17. Dr. McLean, that’s great! I’ll WhatsApp/text you when/where we eventually settle down to watch the race! I have a mobile number for you which ends 283, is that still the case? Cheers
  18. Hi All, Not sure if anyone is keen to catch some of this Sunday's men's Euro Champ RR after a bike ride! We did this a few years ago when Glasgow hosted the Commonwealth Games, the plan could be as follows: Clubroom 9am start - over the Bridge - Dumbarton - Balloch - Cycle Route 7 - Croftamie - Dryman - Pipe Track - Aberfoyle - Lake of Monteith - Arnprior - ToTW - Fintry - Crow (yippie) - Milngarvie - Westend of Glasgow! Potential viewing location - Gt George Street (Climb), Gibson Street, Montrose Street (climb) etc ........ of course other places are available. Race starts 10.30am, 14km long circuit, 16 laps = 230km, so I guess plenty of time to catch the race after our run, but it could get busy as it gets later on the day. The race will probably finish around 4pm. Anyone interested? Cheers Chung
  19. Hi Andy, Welcome to the club & forum, good to have you! You can keep an eye on the “Clubrun” section if you have access to that part of the forum. There’s usually Sunday runs or during the week postings, just pick one that suits you and let the folks know, turn up & introduce yourself & the guys & gals will look after you! Alan McLean is the club member secretary, so you can PM him for any info. you need! As far as I know, a few members stays in Elderslie like Andrew Dunn & Darryl :-) Hope to see you out on the road soon! All the best Chung
  20. I plan to go part of the route as time constrain tomorrow, will be bailing at the roundabout just before the turn for Arrochar and head back via Glen Fruinn! So will get youse at the bridge for 8.30am ......... Cheers
  21. Greg, you should be able to pick up a "standard" chain-set off eBay fairly easy & they tend to be quite cheap too as the norm nowadays is compact! If you're going Campagnolo, then try to avoid the dreaded older "Power Torque" (the older version) as it's PITA (and need really special tools) to take-off & install. The PT tend to be on older Veloce, Athena & I think Centaurs version ....... anything Chorus or above will defy. be Ultra Torque! "Ultra Torque" is what you want, unless you're going for the New 4 arm "Power Torque" on current Potenza & Centaur chain-sets which is an updated design that is self extracting hence a lot easier to take off when need be! Confusing isn't it? That's the joys of owning Campag :-) If you need any help, just geez a bell or PM! Good luck
  22. Greg, compact 50/34 chain rings have 110BCD, were as Standard 53/39 or Pro Compact 52/36 have 130BCD, that is the diameter numbers of the crank arms. I assume you have the old style Campagnolo (as George said) 5 as oppose to the new 4 arms? If so, then you're kind of snookered You need to get a new complete chainset if you want to go bigger based on your present predicament!
  23. Martin, I have (along with quite a few Wheelers) the Garmin Edge 520, it's great & has the option to connect to power meter & cadence (not that I use it). https://www.halfords.com/cycling/cycling-technology/cycle-computers-gps/garmin-edge-520-cycle-computer 10% discount with BC member at Halfords?? Or the new Edge 130, which is cheaper! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/garmin-edge-130-gps-cycling-computer-2018/rp-prod171387 You could maybe consider the Edge 25, but the screen is small (not ideal for us auld ones) & the display fields are not customisable! https://www.halfords.com/technology/wearable-technology/cycling-computers-gps/garmin-edge-25-gps-cycling-computer Happy Shopping :-)
