Alan Fox
Al (Yuille,) So far there are a couple of choices for a 400Km Audax next year ... The Auld Alliance.... http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-93/ The Southern Uplands.... http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-43/ Prefer the route of the The Auld Alliance. Not sure of the 21:00 start though, suppose you'll be at your freshest for the night riding!!?? Campbell - any thoughts/comments....
Guest George
Alan, I fancy these. The night-time one has a certain romance to it. Need to dig my dynamo, saddlebag & tweed plus fours out!
al yuille
Hey Al . Good man , I can see you are keen ! My preference would be for the daylight ride . Sunset around 930 at that time of year so gives 15 + hrs of light. Hopefully not too much riding in the dark. Have tried late and early starts on 24 hr west highland way trips and preferred the early start. I know you have covered those borders roads extensively and would prob prefer something new so will ride either. The light from the hologram should be fine to ride by. Alan Fox
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3339463 Al, Like this third option... Old Military Roads including the Lecht. This would be my preference if I'm not on holiday. http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-136/
AllanM
Alan I rode a lot of these North East roads in August this year...well worthwhile. I however did it over two days with a good meal, sleep and shower in Nairn...like a normal person! Tom Hill
al yuille
Let's pencil it in. If hols get in the way we can ride one of the others. Yes Chung, am back in summer ( well , spring anyway). Got a few weeks left in Sydney and then we are moving down to Hobart in Tasmania. Was down there last weekend and you will be pleased to hear it was 13 C and blowing hard. It's about 1500 kms south of here ( in the Roaring Forties ) so weather may prove to be a challenge. Mt Wellington is right behind the city though so a nice 20 km alpine style climb literally on the doorstep. Really must get that compact ! See you in Spring. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Wellington_(Tasmania) chung, PaulL and ginty001
AllanM
Manly...Hobart? NSW...Tassie? What were you convicted of Al? On the bright side there's a wee shop south of Hobart that sells real Irn Bru! Hope the move goes well.

al yuille
Cheers Iain - looks like I can get the 400 in early. Yes Alan - Van Diemen's Land - a pretty horrible history for a UNESCO world heritage area. . Going to be one of the few free settlers - for the term of my natural life ...or until spring at least !
