RG Montague DNF First time I've been up it on a geared bike. Absolutely horrible. Blew up about 50 yards from the finish, and with one eye on the clock - which was already too far advanced for my liking - and with no-one about to shame me into pressing on, I sat up. Phil Malcolm Posted September 26, 2012 Report Share Posted September 26, 2012 Few things on that Richard... firstly I do a few training rides involving riding the same hill 3 times and only the first one is ever any cop time wise. Secondly, a push off is worth a lot more than you think in terms of time. Finally, its all in your head. Ive never managed to get to the top in training. Once the adrenaline is pumping on Sunday you will fly up it faster than you thought possible.
