Members Kenny MacDonald
Hi Guys the Dev squad and friends are having an awayday memorial run on Saturday . Davie passed away on the 15th. of Feb last year and we are doing one of his favourite rides. Route :- Western ferry 9:50am boat Loch Eck , Strachur , Glendaruel, Loch Striven, Hunters Quay 52 miles ferry to ferry. Weather dependant ( and knowing how much luck we have had in past trips thats a big if !) All welcome to join us , but please note it will be a very steady pace to Strachur then regrouping on climbs. Members Kenny MacDonald
Cracking day out with excellent company. A groupetto of 8 brave souls set of from Hunters quay ( following a wee wait for the second ferry carrying the 4 stragglers ) The run down Loch Eck was brisk and steady , turning onto Glendaruel brought stunning views of Argyleshire. The long climb upward stretched the group . A regroupment at top and we set off on the long descent into the valley, Bill T opted for a gel stop and yours truly waited with him. A long chase down the valley and the group was back together on flats . The last of the summer wine squad ( Bill T , Willie C and Kenny Mac ) feigned an attack and physched out the pretenders prior to turning left onto Striven climb where they promptly attacked in reverse We all stopped at summit to recreate a foto taken with Davie R on a previous outing. The 2 MacDs attacked down the steep descent into Loch Striven with stinging rebuke from Bill T ringing in their ears The pretenders were dispatched onward on climb to Loch Tarsan while last of summer wine squad chased from top of climb. Both sections regrouped on ferry for a pleasant sail back across the Clyde. Superb day out with good company and weather , a fitting tribute to Davie .
