Al

the object isnt to catch the group in front  ( thats a bonus ;-) ) its to allow race minded riders the chance to practice riding in a group at race pace (well the last few miles anyway  )

Remember the reliabilities are a stepping stone to getting race prepared , but are a group run and club etiquette should still be observed ie

waiting for puncture victims ,easing over summits to allow stragglers back on etc

Obviously inside 5 miles to go its fair to have an every rider for themselves habble Oh ya dancer !

Kenny, you're a gent. But I don't think Jim will be taking any prisoners. He was the first one to mention catching groups.

Also: Any chance of taking the Old Greenock Road behind Langbank to avoid the A8? The OGR's been resurfaced at Drums although still pretty bumpy coming down past Finlaystone. Bit safer but slower than A8. (I'll do it if you tell me to.)

I'll just go and look out my duvet jacket.....

That is of course if you can all have a go at the missus on Saturday night

ahemm, you might want to rephrase that Colin

I am on call on saturday so cannot attend, sounds like it might be quite a night

Colin, delighted you can join in this group, who are not chasing anyone down, as Alan said, but it wasnae it was Jim, whatever, i cannot see us catching anyone

incidentally, much as it pains me, I agree with Alan about avoiding the A8, it scares me witless

weather forecast looks intersting, but sunday is a long way away... it might get worse

Tour of the Shire completed by Frodo, Bilbo Baggins and Gollum in 2.10.

We couldn't catch the first groups and are led to believe that some people didn't go through Erskine as planned. Very poor show. This will be reported to the authorities and appropriate action will be taken.:uzi:uzi

School hols next weekend, see you in 2 weeks.

9:00 group had no sign of any hangovers  from the squad who attended presentation . 2 MacDs , Mulhooligan,Bill,Davie R, John J, Kat,Ian,Greg and boy wonder ;-) newly crowned Hammock winner Alan Y.

The tailwind run out to Smiddy saw rush of blood to various heads as we forgot we werent the racing group :-? and oh did they suffer later

Kat bid us farewell at Smiddy and we headed thru Erskine and over to Bishopton and the drop down to Langbank. Spirits were high and the pace brisk, the lull before the storm

The Clune Brae blew the bunch apart and very quickly we resembled the TV drama "Lost series 1" with bodies strewn everywhere

Auchebothie road brought the headwind at its fiercest so far and legs began to buckle :-x

This was the start of the downfall of the group with riders failing to get to grip with the conditions, the bunch stretching and breaking on every climb.

At summit at Whin roadend a regroupment took place and the bunch tightened up all the way to Phils folly Oh ya dancer !

Where the plane crash was bigger than Clune  an advance party of 2 macDs , Mulhooligan, and fixed revelation Alan Y came over summit into the teeth of the wind followed by Davie R , Bill and Ian spread out across the countryside :smash

Yours truly doubled back to check on stragglers and passed Howie and Frank leading the 9:30 plane crash  as it wound its way across the exposed moorland :angryfire

Following confusion over Kenny S multimap thingy the 9:30s were dispatched to Lochwinnoch whilst I escorted Bill down escape route past Clochoderick stone ;-) and a big ring run all the way back to clubrooms Hello, beer !! and a welcome cup or two of soup and some excellent banter with fellow liability riders. No 2 groups took the same route whilst some made it up as they rode along , although I wont name that group Simon OOPS!!!

Rider of the day in oor wee bunch :- Boy wonder Yeoman , another example of the merits of fixed riding in the winter, stunning ride by the big man.

Quote of ther day :- was from Jaz McCormick even though he didnt take part :-?

hearing of the exploits of the various groups stated " you cant beat a good plane crash"- then added " but unlike a real plane crash its best to be at the front of a Sunday run plane crash " wise words indeed ;-)

1 down 3 to go :rockets

my first club run in what must be getting on for over 2 years and nothing has changed - not even kenny's banter.

Won't be out next week - mid term holiday so got kids duties. Hope to be there the following week. Was going to get a fancy bike with gears but likes the fixed so much i think I will stick to it.

cheers
