  1. Billy likes accelerating. Its the top speed he needs to work on And he doesn't half exaggerate. Said to him a million times. Anyhow I guess we all surge to get off the front as soon as possible and out of the wind but when you get in a squad that stays smooth it's such a joy. Like poetry in motion. Totally worth the extra effort of passing the lead rider slowly and smoothly...
  2. I'm coming. The rain will be sporadic, so if no-one turns up I know it's me that's the problem.
  3. I reckon Alan Mcb pushing off saved me 20 seconds. He might be rubbish pushing a pedal but he can't half push a saddle. Thanks Alan.
  4. I'll be there. Haven't helped on one yet but the conditions tonight look so promising... should be really fast... help another time when its cold and windy
  5. No luck Robbie. If only you had tried 3 seconds harder
  6. Meeting at Houston bus shelter at 6 30?
  7. Do you get extra points if you win 3 in a row? Still got John boy to deploy. Hee hee.
  8. Hope there is tree cover at Quarriers village for this week's segment too
  9. Is there a cycling club that starts there Sunday runs at 9am or later? If I can find my hair shirt I may make it. But don't wait.
  10. There should be negative points for people who have already made an attempt and slip out Sunday night for a second go.
  11. Seems there is no definite Sunday run anymore - gets hijacked by those "in the know". And now Thursdays could go the same way. Anarchy and that feeling we are trying to herd cats. I like Billy's interpretation. It's a short ride. If you get a puncture it's hardly as if you're on your own for hours and if numbers stay above 10 there will be a mechanical every second or third week.
  12. https://www.strava.com/routes/7865242 was a nice route. The famous hill is Rocacorba which this route studiously circumvents. La Fabrica is a cyclist owned coffee shop in the old town. David Millar who lives outside Girona - worth cycling past his house - he must have won some prize money in his time - he was shooting the breeze there when we we were there in March. And pop in to an ex-pat cycle shop "Eat Sleep Cycle" 30 Carrer dels Mercaders - they have weekly cycle runs going from their shop. You will meet the equivalent of ski bums (cycling bums). Loads of em. They live out there cycling their bike and being cool Just like us.
  13. Yes. Tapering for Sunday. So might just sit on McCheatishes wheel and roll him for the points.
  14. And someone should tell the audax DA guys - no kudos for getting up at 6am. Crazy cyclomaniacs. Is there a psychiatrist in the house?
  15. Bah! There is a "This month" tab. My prediction is a segment a week will not get enough entries. It will end up like the TT series...
  16. Can't we have 2 weeks to get the segment - publish a new one each week but one more week in advance? I'd like to try next week's tomorrow... and it's tough to find a night to fit it in with the right weather vane direction
  17. Thanks everyone. Be a lot easier if I could sprint. Working on it on the Thursday Chain Gangs. Beat Paul McD last night on the GT. Yess!

Congratulations everyone. Fast time. Billy needs to have you do more threshold work to peg me in the 2 minutes you're down. And I still want the strava KoM back... be tough on a Double Arran... 2hrs 36mins required. Should probably go for it on the first lap
  19. I bet I'm not the only one sitting on McCheatish's wheel next week refusing to do any work... and for Rob... we'll take him up the Heggies and give him a doing
  20. Planning to do it on my road bike and beat 26 mins on the Strava segment. If no one else turns up I should be awarded double points. Also Nightingales e mailed me to say their committee thought I was too good for their APR but they are going to give me priority for the Sam Robinson. Alan Mcb and Alex B got their entries accepted btw. Cool eh?
  21. So 9 45 at the Bishopton Coop. I can tell you how I beat your PB on the Georgetown this Tuesday night. Low pressure, little wind and super fit...
  22. Thanks. Should have shouted over. Alex Baird gave me a lift home in his nice Beamer. Used a tankful of petrol mind to Paisley.
  23. Punctured on the way to the course. I'd blame the bike but I was probably putting too much power through the back wheel as I was running late. Hope to see you out sprinting me on Thursday nights soon...
