  1. Paul, would it be ok if Adam joins you? He's training for Errigal and would appreciate a fast road run and the company.
  2. In the absence of a competent timekeeper I rummaged around in the car and found a notepad and pen, so here's the results for tonight. It's nerve wracking stuff timing 14 riders with a phone that only has 12% charge left! Well done to all who had to fight against a fairly stiff breeze on the outward leg. 3. Shimano 501s currently available for £72 a pair on Ribble, £75 if you want the bladed spoke version
  4. Hi, late call off from Adam Hazle. Too tired after a long week of racing :-)
  5. Hi I will be going out tomorrow see you 09:00 at Millar street Adam
  6. Cheers Kenny, happy to take it on tour if you have time to look it out.
  7. Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. Richie, it's an all black cross bike, so I think it needs to match, but thanks for the offer. Jannza, if you can be bothered looking it out to check that would be great, if I get the chance to pop in to Thomsons I'll let you know, but we're away racing in Dundee on Saturday and Aberdeen on Sunday - such is the life of a soigneur :-)
  8. Does anyone have a fairly cheap 27.2mm seatpost - 300mm or longer hanging around that they are looking to sell? Alternatively any recommendations to stop Adam from growing any more?
  9. I offered to put a couple of outgrown bikes on the forum for a friend. Please contact me if you are interested in either of them and I'll put you in touch with the seller. Both bikes are in Bishopton. The first is a silver Ridgeback MX24 Mountain Bike, 21 Speed, Shimano 7 SIS Gears with Revoshift levers, Tektro brake levers and v-brakes, 24 x 1.95 tyres, front suspension, mudguards. Good Condition, price £100 The second is a lovely little road bike, based around a black powder coated Peugeot road frame- complete with Johnstone Wheelers decals :-) 24†wheels, 24†x 1†tyres. Shimano Sora eight speed shifters, additional cross style brake levers on bar tops. Calliper brakes, Ultegra rear mech, double chainring. Good Condition, price - £140
  10. Adam told me he thoroughly enjoyed the run - funnily enough though, he didn't mention the bit about being trounced on the 30 at Bishopton. Well done Ian :-)
  11. Adam Hazle will be there for 9.00
  12. Another bike outgrown by Adam Hazle. This is a medium frameset in good condition and has had frame protectors on since new. The finish is clear coat, raw carbon. Headset and bottom bracket are included in the sale, both are used, but I reckon have some life left in them. Looking for £300.

For some reason I can't get the link to work, but if you google mapmyride Bishop to Saint it comes up.

    A91 or A977

For anyone interested, here's a 200k route from Bishopton to St Andrews http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/bishopton-sct/bishop-to-saint-route-130677935. For Cupar I would take the A913 (Cupar Rd) from Newburgh. If I were doing the route as a non-audax route, I would personally head for Dunblane, go to Braco via the B8033, on to Muthill, then Crieff and over to Perth by the road that leaves a Crief as Dollerie Terrace (can't find a number for it) this runs more or less parallel to the A85, but is much quieter and passes close to Tibbermore. At Perth head for Abernethy, on to Newburgh and then on to Cupar as above. I did this route last year from Dunblane with Adam and never felt it was particularly busy except when I missed the road out of Crieff and ended up on the A85.
  15. I have the cheaper 3 bike Thule carrier without the quick attach/release. It works well and once you get used to the screw on fixing it only takes a couple of minutes to attach. Positives include its solidity and if you buy the desperate lock (basically a nylon cover that spins, it's a pretty secure structure to lock bikes to. I personally like the fact that you can see the bikes in your rear view mirror and that you don't have to clamp the downtube. Downsides include the basic nature of the tilting mechanism to access the boot. This can require a bit of force to release. The nylon straps used to secure the wheels are instantly lost if you forget to secure them then drive off (perhaps more user stupidity than a flaw). Finally, good luck in getting 4 bikes on, depending on saddle heights etc I've had difficulty getting three on. It can take a bit of working out and I have had to remove or spin saddles 90 degrees in the past to get them all on. Despite the flaws, it would still be my first choice - upgrading to the quick attach style if I was feeling flush.
  16. Adam hasn't yet signed up for the forum but appreciates your comments. Congratulations to all who participated, it was miserable up there - and that was from the comfort of my car :-)
  17. Any interest before I put the frameset on eBay?
  18. Selling because it's been outgrown. Matt black 54 cm Dolan Precursa frameset for sale with headset and seat collar. Very good condition, looking for £125.
  19. The Bryton Rider 20 provides perfectly good tracking for strava if Adam's first outing with it is anything to go by. Unlike the Garmin 200 which is around the same price, the Bryton offers ANT+ which allows you to connect speed/cadence sensors and a heart rate monitor. It doesn't provide the breadcrumb trail offered by the Garmin, but it doesn't sound as though you need this. You can pick up a Bryton 20 with a HRM for just under £70 on Merlin Cycles right now and pick up an ANT+ speed/cadence sensor for £17 at Decathlon if you want this. Battery life is reckoned to be a minimum of 18 hours so would even see you through a 200k audax :-)
