  1. Enjoyed that tonight First up was a scratch, was ideally placed about 4th wheel with things strung out a bit with 3 to go then the guy in second attacked with 2 to go i just followed him then went past on the bell. If only all races would fall into my lap like that! Next up another scratch, unlike the first one this time i poorly positioned at about 10th when the sprint started so had to make a big effort and managed to get 2nd, was really pleased with that considering how far i had to go. Last was the points, think i was 3rd or 4th in the first sprint, 1st in the 2nd, didnt contest the third then the final one - well it hurt alot. Couple of riders had attacked after the sprint which i thought was going to stick so i bridged too, then as soon as that happened they eased up and everything came back together only with me on the front with 4 laps to go. Tried to keep a hard pace up so no-one would attack while at the same time trying not to blow up. With 1.5 to go no-one had attacked but i could tell there were a few just waiting behind the idiot on the front leading things out so i put my last bit of energy in to at least make them work for it and surprisingly it was enough to hold them off. Points races are much more fun when things work out Next week will try entering the Bs again see if im accepted this time.
  2. Anyone else going? A freebie this week so dont know what group ive entered.
  3. I think it is possible to get free bronze membership for a year if you are a member of a club http://www.britishcy...e-first-time--0
  4. This is a crosspost from the sportive section so more can see it. Anyway the details for the club entry for those that were unsuccessful in the original ballot is available now. So far we have myself, Tom, Charlie and Al interested. Was wondering if there was any other interest before i fill in the application form and request 2 (or more) team entries instead of 1?
  5. Disappointed to have missed this good to hear it was a successful day
  6. Got the wosca track session so wont be out
  7. Rides usually start (tomorrow however is an exception to this) from the clubhouse in Miller Street in Johnstone which is just off the cycletrack but you could join in part of the way along - obviously depends on what route is being taken where would be suitable to join. The ride details and meeting time are posted on the forum before the ride. There are usually 2 groups out namely the 30 milers (who despite the name often do more than 30 miles particularly in the summer) and the main bunch (which is a bit faster). There is also sometimes an intermediate group but i think this is more of a summer thing. If you cant make tomorrows event then a future 30 milers ride is probably the best introduction to the club - that was my intention when i first joined however i couldnt attend any weekend rides at the time so instead jumped into the deepend with the thursday night chaingang instead. On reflection that wasnt the most sensible of choices!
  8. A night of alot of waiting due to things over running. Although as a result of this we get free entry for next week so its not too bad. No flying 200, just a couple of 6-up match sprints then a scratch race. I was at the back on the first sprint was worried someone was about to attack so i ended going over the top up with 2 to go ended up got caught and finished to 3rd. Next one i was 5th, rookie mistake in positioning - i was low with another guy and everyone else was high! Finally there was a 20 lap (or maybe it was 25) scratch race so people could get a bit more track time before heading home - was a combined C/D race (with Alan looking comfortable with the step up in pace) started to sprint with 3 to go, eventually got passed but managed to hold on for a 2nd so pleased with that.
  9. The programme is going to be a flying 200 and 2 match sprints. It is right that the Commonwealth games squad get a chance to be timed doing kilos, pursuits etc to try and make qualification times but knowing this was happening then it would have been sensible for the organisers to then limit the numbers of entrants for the rest of the sprint night. Trying to squeeze 80 riders in is just being greedy for the entry fees!
  10. My main tactic will be if anyone starts doing a trackstand im going to attack, even if its 3 laps to go...purely because im hopeless at track stands!
  11. When the roads dry up a bit i can stick my gopro on the bike and get some footage of a club run / summer evening chaingang.
  12. If you need to make up the numbers for a long sleeve skinsuit then put me down for one
  13. The details for the club entry are available now. I can do the initial application - How many of you are still interested in doing the event? Do we have enough for 2 teams? Or maybe i should start off by asking do we have enough for 1 team?
  14. Enjoyable day and pleased to get 100 miles in the legs, first of the year for me. Also got the strava granfondo challenge in the bag Was suffering a bit on the Lugton to Barrhead stretch so didnt exactly do my fair turn on the front, sorry about that...if i'd stayed on any longer i'd have been out the back soon as my turn was over.
  15. Think there are a few already doing the south lanarkshire WOSCA race on the same day so probably not much interest in this http://crit.stirlingbikeclub.org.uk/ I was up in Stirling yesterday so took the chance to have a look at the course. It is relatively flat (although i may not be saying that after a few laps) with 3 technical bits to negotiate - namely a tight left corner followed by a tight right with a small kerb (i think they are putting a ramp here for the race), a downhill corner with a fast approach and a roundabout near the finish that looks like it could be very difficult to negotiate in a big bunch. There are also some speed bumps but they dont look too bad. Anyway looks like an interesting course so think i'll give it a go, assuming i can get a place as it is already oversubscribed.
  16. my order will be short sleeve summit jersey and bibshorts although will go with ascent if there are not enough numbers for the summit will probably order something else too, will wait and have a look in the clubshop first. Thanks for all the hard work to Mark and everyone else who has been involved in the organising and design and getting it to this stage
  17. Mixed night. Started off quite well with a scratch, found myself on the front with 3.5 to go so had to go for it - i knew it was a daft move while i was in the middle of doing it and when someone came round as the bell went i was expecting a few others to be following however managed to hold them off from passing before the last bend then after that managed to get a 2nd. Another scratch next, i was badly positioned from the start and never felt like i was in the race. Last was points. Attacked after the first sprint thinking someone might join me, they didnt so was just dangling out there on my own eventually someone came round and beat me in the sprint but we still had a bit of gap so i continued on thinking he might join me but he didnt so i just ended up easing up and rejoining the group. Tried to sprint at the next sprint but that was me done had nothing left.
  18. Seems ive been put in the C's in any case - partly a relief partly a disappointment!
  19. B for me this week - hopefully not a huge mistake!
  20. With the new kit order is it going going to be done via a webstore for the club on the pactimo site?
  21. Tough one today, thanks for the company (and the wheel to follow) George.
  22. Hope to be out Was going to say the group at 10 but not sure if there are the numbers?
  23. If you email them and ask to be put on the waiting list you'll probably get in. I think last year everyone that was on the waiting list ended up getting a place.
  24. Was a good night My first scratch got neutralised then cancelled due to a bad crash. Looked a sore one as the rider was down a fair amount of time and an ambulance had to be called Second scratch was in a breakaway of 4 which got pulled back then the sprint opened up early with a couple riders getting a decent gap - i just sat in someones wheel until he closed the gap a bit then managed to come round him and another and get a 2nd. Then it was the points. Not quite sure where i finished in this i got a 1st and 2 3rds so hoping that was enough for a top 3. Alan and Danny were the riders of the night. Danny in the Bs and managing to get a 2nd (i think) in the points race and Alan getting his first victory in the final scratch race of the night. Special mention to Emma as well, her debut at the track league and looked comfortable despite having done the 2 hour uni track session beforehand.
