  1. As usual the Kilwinning drag got me. Looking at the strava segment for the climb i was about 50 seconds faster up it today than the start of the month (when i managed to get over it with the bunch) so at least im improving a bit. Unfortunately everyone else is improving more! Thanks to Colin for the wheel to follow along the Barrhead road, my legs were shot by Lugton.
  2. I might be out will confirm on saturday, if the weather is bad will likely head straight home rather than stop at the clubrooms afterwards.
  3. Another fun but tough wednesday night. First up 40 lap points - bridged to a solo break after 20 laps then overtook and managed to hold on to win the sprint at 16, recovered a bit then contested the final one - ended up getting caught by a few riders on the line. However got enough points for a 3rd, so pleased with that as it was quite unexpected! Next was a 16 lap scratch. Couple of us found ourselves off the front early on so tried to push on and worked hard for a few laps but eventually we were caught, could only hang on to the back of the bunch after that. Last was a 32 lap scratch, a couple of riders attacked on the gun and i went with them - on reflection a bit of a daft move but i thought 3 working together might have a chance. However the 3 became 2 after about 20 seconds. We were caught after dangling off the front for a bit but was still feeling ok but was behind the wrong rider at the wrong time as the sprint started.
  4. Ive never experienced this with road wheels and tubes but with tubeless mountain bike tyres you need to use compressed air (a co2 canister will do) to get the tyre to seat properly. However with a tube involved this might just lead to it being caught between the rim and the bead and loud bang!
  5. One of the couriers (not sure his name) mentioned to me that he had read about our intended plans for the finish Maybe an idea for later on in the season (when the racing starts) to have the road race viewable by members only?
  6. Well that was fun. I think! Huge bunch (probably the biggest this winter) and a fast pace from the start, unfortunately had a mudguard malfunction in Gourock so tough chase to Largs manage to arrive before everyone leaves again then its through and off to Ardrossan, mudguard starting to rub again by this stage. Up the Kilwinning drag was starting to struggle a bit anyway and the mudguard was doing my head in so attempt to fix it while riding and end up causing it to jam. Oh well, i'd probably have been pumped off the back anyway, at least i wasnt on my own for the long road home. Paul, Colin and Charlie were still looking strong at this point im not sure if there were any other wheelers left, maybe a couple. Anyway to sum up definitely would not recommend the topeak defender iglow guard. It works fine on a smooth road but not up to Scottish roads - straight back to the shop with it later today. Sorry to hear about the crash Alex, hope you are ok!
  7. I dont think any of the WOSCA road races are up either so it might just be they havent been posted yet. A couple of months ago there was talk of their being a WOSCA time trial series (similar to the road race one) but im not sure if that is happening or not.
  8. Enjoyable night in B1. First up 40 lap points, wasnt really in the race until about 6 laps to go when i attacked, ended up getting a good gap which was quickly closed down with a couple of laps to go but managed to hold it off on the line. However didnt get enough points for it to matter. Next a 16 lap scratch, couple of riders attacked from the gun, one of them only lasted a few laps and the other was about a half lap ahead. I was sure he was going to be brought back so i was too lazy and let others close it down while i was thinking about the sprint - however too many others were thinking the same so he managed to stay away. I was badly positioned for the sprint anyway so didnt make any difference. Last was an Olympic devil, rode it from the front for all but 1 lap until there were 3 of us left but by then had nothing left and quickly went backwards. However pleased with that considering my recent record in devils.
  9. Sounds good, hopefully still be there to contribute
  10. Tough ride with the 945 group, felt like a right good workout though and even had the chance to practice a leadout for a sprint towards the end. As we got to Johnstone the lights were red so it meant we could finally catch the last couple of Jets (Danny and i think Hamish) that we'd spent the last few miles on the rivet trying to chase down, they'd have stayed away if it had been green.
  11. 945 for me, will see how my legs feel after today if the pace is too much will cut it short rather than hold everyone up
  12. Enjoyable ride, good chase back from Troon to the Kilwinning drag with Darryl marshalling the troops well. After that the steadier/slower pace up the climb meant i got to enjoy the delights of Lochlibo road with the bunch rather than on my own, so much more motivating having wheels to follow.
  13. Enjoyable night in the Bs - first up 42 lap points, didnt contest the first couple of sprints then bridged to a break which fell apart pretty quick but got a 4th in one of the sprints. Just followed wheels after that. Next was a 16 lap scratch, really fast pace from the gun and things were strung out and i was getting shouted at by someone for losing the wheel in front by the second corner of the first lap! Pace continued to be fast and after about 5 laps or so a rider had got a gap and i looked round and realised i also had a bit of a gap too so pushed on, eventually caught him and we worked together for a bit. Caught with about 3 laps to go and I end up leading out the sprint then going backwards. Was rather painful! Last was the Devil, first out. My recent record in the devil is awful, i used to do pretty well in it but the last 3 are 1st out, 2nd out, 1st out. Alan put in a good performance here staying in for most of it.
  14. I made it to the club rooms for 9.44 but no-one was there Tried to catch up but by Houston decided to take the short cut and meet up with the 9.30 group after Langbank, much to their bad luck though as shortly afterwards got a puncture and held them all up meaning they got caught! Anyway enjoyable ride and some cracking views over the clyde and the hills.
  15. Sorry cant help out but well done on the call up, he will be mixing it with some top class racers!
  16. If i can make it then 9.45 for me. As there only seems to be 3 of us at the moment then i think we might be in need of some the weetabix that Gewiss had in 1994! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3rZphEtzSM
  17. Going to be missing tonight now, good luck with the racing!
  18. Im getting to the point where i'll need a PA to keep a cycling diary (assuming entry to the WOSCA races, ive already entered the others). Going to be a fun 2 weeks, although i realise it's all a bit unfocused and probably a bit counter productive too! 30 April - Ingliston crit 2 May - Drumlanrig Tearfund 6 May - WOSCA 7 May - Ingliston crit 10 May - Etape Caledonia 13 May - WOSCA 14 May - Ingliston crit
  19. Was it your hope hub? If so worth contacting them @ http://www.hopetech.com/warranty-and-service/they are normally good with warranty replacements.
  20. Good run today, West Kilbride to Largs then after the bb Largs to Skelmorlie was fun with the tailwind. The rest was pretty tough.
