  1. Keo cleats tend to wear a bit faster than Shimano SPD-SL. It's more based on how much walking is done in them (or even just stopping and placing a foot on the ground) rather than miles riding). The Keo grip cleats last a bit longer than the standard. In the meantime you could try adjusting the release tension see if that improves things. For the noise you could also try removing each bolt on the cleat and adding a bit of grease to the threads. Shimano SPD (the metal mtb style ones) are the longest lasting but for road SPD SL are my favourite - nice big platform. However i have Keo / Garmin Vector pedals on a couple of bikes too, i don't really notice a huge difference between the two. Exustar are usually alright - they make the garmin branded cleats and i've not noticed them last less than the Look ones.
  2. Some of those options dont look too promising! I realise it's a selfish view but a huge part of the attraction of Cowal for cycling is precisely because it is a bit inconvenient to get to by car despite being close to the central belt. The A82 up Loch Lomond and over the Rest (or the A81 to Aberfoyle) are spectacular roads in terms of scenery but they can be horrible to cycle on because of how busy they are...would hate to see C11 or the Whistlefield and the other roads over there become like that!
  3. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/05/garmin-launches-strava-komoot-route-sync-works-on-devices-a-decade-old.html Should work, although i've not tried it with komoot. There is also a manual way to do it too - download the gpx file, connect garmin to computer then drag and drop the file into a folder called 'new files'. Disconnect garmin then next time you turn it on the route should appear under courses.
  4. Cracking advert from the Italian TV channel Rai for the upcoming Giro
  5. Yeah good ride, thanks for getting the club rides rolling again 👍
  6. Just to let you know the track league is being postponed to January 2021 and the season is now going to be the calendar year rather than the winter with a short break over Christmas/ New Year. There will be a longer break in the summer, so in effect the actual months being raced will be the same as before the difference will be in the league table. 4 months to get fit!
  7. I know the route - could tweak it a bit and head to the cafe that Mark recommended a couple of weeks back? (by tweak could potentially miss out the whole transmitter climb )
  8. Yeah a real tough day - hardest SA attempt i've been involved in. Great ride by Emma - better conditions and we would have completed comfortably inside the time limit. Got lots of power data over the years to back that up! Also the boat took a long time docking due to the wind direction so without that delay it might have made the difference too. But if it was easy to achieve then it wouldn't be the legendary Arran challenge!
  9. Apparently the biggest bunch they've had in decades - crazy at times like this.
  10. Don't think i can make Tuesday If you stick your previous SA on your garmin then the virtual partner will help a lot with pacing. Don't race it though - it's best to use it to avoid going too hard early on when feeling fresh.
  11. Will give it a go - looks to be near the Ardocrig side of the windfarm so quite handy for a gravel ride
  12. That's disappointing - made a lot of purchases there over the years that i otherwise wouldn't have without the price match!
  13. Another Single Arran in the bag and the first woman on the hall of fame. Well done Laura 😁 Less than ideal wind conditions with a strong crosswind for much of the west coast but the pacing was spot on and we made it to the ferry with time to spare.
  14. Well done - Lochranza is a long way round for food if you've not had any breakfast!
  15. Unless its a northerly wind (or north westerly or north easterly) then clockwise should be fastest. On a still day i'd prefer to do it clockwise too, south half of the island is harder so better to do that with fresh legs.
  16. Weather not looking promising so back to zwift Jungle circuit, starts at 6pm sticky draft is on
  17. Not quite. It's complicated a bit as the JWCC course is slightly different to the one used for the CTT and Georgetown cup
  18. Well done on the PB! It might be to do with garmin autostart (if the TT is a new ride with the start of the ride the start of the TT) - when you start rolling it takes a second or two to register so can miss the start of the segment. I just leave my garmin on for the warm up and rolling about and then hit the lap button at the start. (then have a screen on the garmin to show lap power and lap time) Found it quite a tough night, wind made for a slow first leg. The new surface up the hill to the roundabout is an improvement though!
  19. The useless and incomprehensible data is my favourite bit of a TT - it's the fat mans consolation - seeing if i did more watts than anyone that beat me 😄
  20. well done for stepping up to organise 👍 I think i'd prefer all day rather than between 6 and 9...gives a bigger window of opportunity to ride plus it will make it easier to see the results - you'll be able to look at the 'today' tab on the strava segment - this doesn't show what time people rode the segment at just that they did so that day.
  21. Decent turn out tonight including Brian Smith. Karen with the win in the mini race back to the top of the climb. Richie went for the early attack and blew up whereas i tried to limit my losses...meanwhile Karen counters Richie and drops us both with 1.4km to. Takes the KOM jersey in the process!
