  1. Im probably going to drive up so maybe see you up there. Apparently there is a fairly big group meeting at strathblane to ride if you are interested? I think its joining up with the Lake run which leaves at 10 outside the Kirkhouse inn.
  2. Remember when we all agreed about taking care at roundabouts? Tonight at Houston was far too close a call for comfort. Take it easy it is not a race, and even if it is a race dont do that! Also a car had to stop at Newark Castle and from what i hear there was something at Langbank too? (I didnt see that one) It wasn't just that though it was guys surging through for their turn rather than through and off. This is the basics. My moaning might just sound like sour grapes because i was left behind after the restart at Knapps but fair enough i should have been paying more attention. Afterwards though Gregg was saying it was one the worst bunches he'd been a part of....if someone with his experience is saying that then time to listen.
  3. I've added it as an event with a request for help to the strava group that will hopefully get some attention from those that dont use the forum
  4. usual time and place with the road being closed through Kilmacolm then detour needed - i think either Cloak road or Knockbuckle would work?
  5. Its a CTT event https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/18491 need to register on their website to enter the race but ctt membership is free for members of affiliated clubs
  6. Wont be able to make it for 8am unfortunately
  7. Yeah...the women's category is based on the times of 3 or 4 riders rather than 8.
  8. should be there. I don't know if the Scottish medal rules are still in place? If so then i think a couple of our rival clubs may have some of their faster riders ineligible for counting due to team pursuit medals last year.
  9. Some tropical rainstorm tonight going onto the west ferry and then again from Kilmacolm to Bridge of Weir. Fun in retrospect although not so much at the time Scores Kom 1. Cedric joint 2. Sam and Ian 3. Me 4. Colin Finish 1. Cedric 2. Sam 3. Me 4. Ian 5. Charlie
  10. Hottest night of the year so far and a big bunch. KOM (going off strava times) Sam Cedric Ian Marc James ---- Finish Cedric Marc Sam Me Ian
  11. Doesnt really count but the the climb up to Loch Humphrey (starts just on the north side of the Erskine Bridge) is brutal. First half is tarmac and a steady gradient then second half is gravel and kicks up to at least 25%. Surface is doable, but difficult, on a road bike on the way up but wouldnt fancy descending it.
  12. Brave words George and you are spot on with your message.
  13. Good interview this week http://www.veloveritas.co.uk/2019/07/19/cedric-sachet-jul19/
  14. I wont be out this week but usual time and place Thought about doing this route - https://www.strava.com/routes/20193130 It doesnt go up the Monkey House climb and instead loops around Ingliston and then joins Bishy Hill half way down it on way to West Ferry. Alternatively take the route the Renfrew bunch did on Tuesday through Erskine.
  15. Following up the Sam Robinson with a 3rd place in the Glasgow Ivy road race today. Renfrew bunch regular Aidan Quinn with the win!
  16. Nice summer evening with a good turnout. Couple of guys tonight suggested tweaking the route next week - the Monkey House climb was a bit busy with traffic and the blind bends aren't ideal for a big bunch (this alternative loops back slightly but i think joining the west ferry where we do is a safer option than joining at Langbank) : https://www.strava.com/routes/20193130 Results KOM: Marc Ian Sam ? ? Finish: Marc Alan Me ? ?
  17. Usual time and place...altered route due to road works - heading via monkey house rather than through red smiddy and bishopton
  18. Worth checking out Hope Academy - basically its bike leasing for kids and as they get older you hand back the old bike and upgrade to a bigger size. Downside is not owning the bike however the components and frames are really good. Maybe a bit too blingy for taking to school every day though! https://hopeacademyuk.com/
  19. Posted it here as not everyone has access to the race forum (presumably due to it being used for discussion of top secret tactics)
  20. Well done to Cedric who won the Sam Robinson road race today - he joins a who's who of Scottish Cycling on the trophy including wheelers like Brian Smith, Willie Gibb and Robert Melrose! Chapeau
