Must have been hard to get going again after the cafe stop. The non-stop, cold rain had me borderline hypothermic by the time I got home. Bad choice of gloves in particular had me stuck on the middle ring, fumbling at rear changes and having to ask for help to unzip pockets to get keys out when I got home with 35 miles on the clock. The conditions made this the hardest run of the year for me.
A warm bath and a coffee got me warmed up eventually.
For me, Saturday is a golf day, so no cycling (unless I decide to take on the >20% up to the golf club). Been in Majorca, warm weather training this week (for the Paisley Beer Festival). Hope to be out next Sunday.
Well done to all who took part. Family staying over prevented me getting there for the start.
Apologies to Carol for not stopping to say hello on the Bowfield climb - I was in danger of being late for my own birthday lunch.
Well done all - I'm jealous, but the good lady wouldn't let me even toddle over to the bridge after keeping her up with my cough for the last few nights.
Hope to be recovered enough to be allowed out for the final reliability next week.
Currently on antibiotics, so won't be doing the full run. May come down to do the run over to Erskine bridge with the 9:00 group, just to get some fresh air.
I use the q/r version from here - http://www.carradice.co.uk/products/saddle-fixing-systems- with a traditional small saddle bag. The support and the bag will work out relatively expensive - but will last a long time.
I'm not on the list yet.
I have done the accreditation, but it's probably out of date. I'm happy to be in the slower group - bringing up the rear.
I'll be hiring a 52 bike and shoes. I'll have to hunt for my helmet - got one somewhere.
I had 52.8 on the clock by the time I got home. Good run and the roads were fine - though we stuck to the main roads until the weather warmed up a bit, which didn't take very long. Thanks to Paul and Graeme for taking it easy on me.
I should be there if the weather holds, but may do the route at a slower pace if I struggle on the Bowfield climb again or if there are any other slower riders looking for company.
Managed over 50 miles myself, up through Neilston and then over Craigton Rd and down to Stewarton for a coffee and bacon roll while my toes thawed out a bit, then home via Dunlop, Lugton, Beith, Kilbirnie and finishing on the track.
