  1. Love the Tour de France style devil costume!! I'm guessing that's Alan?
  2. Thanks for the suggestions, there are plenty of both on ebay. Is it the sort of noise that will disturb the neighbours through thin walls? My alternative is to get a set of rollers, they seem pretty fun but don't offer the resistance I need?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm wanting to buy a turbo trainer for over winter but I'm on a bit of a budget - say, no more than £130. Am I right in thinking that fan resistance trainers are the cheapest but are pretty noisy? How noisy are we talking? There are plenty on ebay but I'm not sure what's good. Thanks in advance for any advice
  4. Hi Ramsay, I don't think I can make it to the club rooms on Sat but I'd be interested in a pair of the egg beaters. If you tell me which model they are and a price I could get them off you next time I'm back in Beith?
  5. Charlie, thanks for the offer of the borrowed bike however I might actually have other riding commitments (uni bike club) on Sunday. Will see if I can sort things so that I can do both, this would be good practise for the British Unis hill climb which is on the 29th!
  6. I'll try and make it along to this, but my nasty old Raleigh will only slow me down! Who wants to lend me their tasty carbon number for this race?
  7. Super sorry to hear your beauty was snatched! There are some absolute cocks in this world, I will keep an eye ouut edit: were the red walled tyres pana fire xc pros? They are ddistinctive and easy to spot
  8. Guys, what time is the CX race tomorrow morning? My parents are walking the dogs down irvine way tomorrow and want to catch some cyclocross action!
  9. Tour de Ben Nevis? A few of my friends did this and it sounded totally brilliant! Well done for your result
  10. Sorry but it now looks like I'll be giving this a miss, have a good one.
  11. I'm up for a ride, will keep an eye on here to see what the plan is.
  12. I'm probably in for this one. Would be joining you north of the bridge, however.
  13. Ah, it was you! appreciated the encouragement! Brilliant ride today! Thanks to Paul for organising, and Alan for keeping me topped up with food and sacrificing one of his water bottles which was dropped on the road
  14. What do I win? The chance to sit on someone's wheel the whole way round?
  15. Just looking at the calmac website, is the return ferry we're going for at 1350 rather than 1250?
  16. I like the sound of this idea but the pace is probably too high. I could always come along and take the escape route over the string road if I get dropped
  17. Our PBs are only because tonight was our first night! Look forward to beating it next time I get the chance to do a 10 TT Thanks Jann for the timekeeping and Mark for the push off (no thanks for passing me in the final 100m! )
  18. I quite fancy making my TT debut... From reading previous threads, is there a cost involved for participants?
  19. No luck tonight Craig, once you get used to the road bike and the speeds it'll get easier. Definitely get out on one of the weekend rides if you get a change or get out on the thursday night route. Good ride tonight, I was really hurting though! Interesting ride home too, reckoned I could ride though a flood in Lochwinnoch - schoolboy error
  20. And if you go on a sunday run, Mark will give you a cake if you say you're going to bonk!
  21. Hi Craig I'm new to the club as well and my first bunch ride (ever) was with these guys on a thursday night run (details are in the 'Confirmed Events' section of the forum btw). Everyone was really welcoming and helpful and I had ridden the route previously so knew what to expect, but I did get dropped half way round. An option would be to come out and sit at the back and only take a turn at the front if you're feeling confident, although I'm not really in any place to say as a fellow newbie. I'd agree with Richard, it's easy to make mistakes when you're tanning it full gas
  22. Weather doesn't look great but I'll probably be out
  23. Yeah, I'm definitely up for Arran some time soon when more people are available. I'll maybe hop on the Largs run if I manage to get out of bed in time
