2023 Subscriptions carol cowan Posted November 2, 2016 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 2, 2016 I have promoted myself to intermediate Captain for this week. Not been over to the north side of the river for a while, so how about Clubrooms 9am Georgetown Rd to Erskine Bridge - Dumbarton - Cardross to Helensburgh. Sinclair Street over to Arden - Duckbay to Balloch and coffee stop. Back to bridge via Bonhill and cycle track avoiding A82. A fairly flattish route except for Sinclair St of about 55miles. Who's out. Dave
graemew
I've joined recently but haven't managed out in a bunch. What kind of pace would this be as I would hate to slow folk down and I'm abysmal on hills!!!
2023 Subscriptions carol cowan Posted November 2, 2016 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 2, 2016 Hi Graeme, the intermediate paces average about 16-18mph but it can vary. In a bunch you will be pulled along so don't just judge what your solo pace is as it will be higher in a bunch. Sundays run includes quite a long steep hill out of Helensburgh but we normally regroup at the top of climbs as no one gets left behind. if you are feeling apprehensive, there may be a 30miler group run being posted for this Sunday. which is a slightly slower pace and is usually a good starting point for newbies. Keep an eye on the posts. Cheers Dave SansC

2023 Subscriptions carol cowan Posted November 6, 2016 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 6, 2016 Group of seven left clubrooms, Jaki, Kaz,Eric,Alan,Anthony,Graeme & Dave. Felt like a headwind most of the way to Helensburgh but views and light was good. Anthony left us here and the rest headed up Sinclair Street and made good progress to Balloch and Corrie Cafe for rolls, eggs and coffee and then more coffee. The girls left first with the plan for the rest of us to catch them up but despite a fast chase we could not catch them. Thanks for the company. Dave EricL, chung, Kaz H and 2 others
