2023 Subscriptions David Thomson Posted August 25, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 25, 2012 Thought I would have a look back and see which riders have never tested positive or never been in a team which has admitted systematic doping. I have included their origional/current position and time gap to The Boss. This is not to be taken too seriously and I doubt they weren't on drugs for at least 6 of them 1999-Angel Casero (5th @ +15'11'') 2000-Roberto Conti (16th @ +34'18'') 2001-Francois Simon (6th @ +17'22'') 2002-Jose Azevedo (6th @ +15'44'') 2003-Haimar Zubeldia (5th @ +6'51'') 2004-Jose Azevedo (5th @ +14'30'') 2005-Cadel Evans (8th @ +11'55'') DT
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted August 25, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 25, 2012 Was Jose Azevedo not in USPS? He certainly was a cracking climber.
2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted August 25, 2012 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 25, 2012 I think the only clean rider there is Evans, possibly Simon, but I doubt it. Who won the Armstrong tours? No-one, if we are looking for someone clean. Or maybe we should say he won and was the best in an era of doping, and draw a line under the matter. 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 25, 2012 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 25, 2012 Higher English exam question, In 10 years time will Cadel Evans still be viewed as clean, or by extension, Bradley Wiggins? Discuss. Ps I realise the commas are probably incorrect !
Guest
There are no winners in this. Authorities pursuing Armstrong is a personal vendetta. Why just him? The whole sport was riddled with drugs for 20 years. As for Evans, did he not ride for a couple of dodgy teams? Wiggins? Has used a therapeutic use exemption for asthma in The past despite not being asthmatic. Lots of other guys were doing it so does this make it ok or Is it the same as Armstrong was doing? It just blackens the name of the sport. Draw a line under it & move on.
DavieB
George, T'is a black day indeed, however Lance, his DS and the rest of the co-sanctioned are still directly involved in cycling and have access and influence over riders, including young riders entering the sport, Fat Frank Shrek on a diet anyone? The UCI may also be dragged into this. Another couple of Q's: Will Bwad now stop referring to his big pal in such glowing terms? Will the UCI be brought to task? Are the guys returning after bans clean, exhibit no. 1 -Valverde? Will GB riders, athletes, tennis players now stop being given the benefit of the doubt because it is just those nasty foreigners that are doing it, nationality has nothing to do with it the only thing that matter is getting away with it. Finally an alternate way to look at Lance, not the best rider in a peloton of dopers, but the best (alledged )doper in a peloton full of dopers. DavieB
.....and for the tie breaker..... What exactly did Lance say when he was looking lovingly into Phil's eyes in that bedroom, and more to the point what was the state of undress. Bet those two have been choking on their Spanish cornflakes this week,
