2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 8, 2010 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 8, 2010 Thank you chaps Jim D and I did the 3.1/2 hour journey to Alford early doors today for the Vets Champs. For anyone wanting to get into road racing this was as good an event as you get - 4 professional motorbike outriders, excellent organistion and a truly superb 23 mile circuit to be covered 3 times in nice summer weather. I think there were 2 pot holes on the whole course!! A field of around 60 signed on for the race which was run off at a high but steady pace. In the finale 2 guys escaped with around 2 miles to go just after the 5 man break of the day was caught. The 2 guys finished 1 and 2 secs ahead of the bunch respectively and fair play to them as the last 5 miles had a tail wind and was over 30mph. The bunch gallop was for 3rd and I manged 3rd for 5th overall. JD finished 17th after helping out big time by putting in some spells to pull back the 5 man break to set up a bunch sprint. cheers PMcD
