lancelogan
I'd like a set of new offroads shimano spds. Clip in one side & flat n grippy on the other side since im not very good at clipping in on a rocky descent. Anyone got any ideas?

lancelogan
Cheers Jim, It looks like it would be easy to accidentally clip into them which isnt what im after if im on a fast descent? Is it just a matter of getting used to them?
Guest Jim Daly
You may well clip in accidentally but the motion to put your foot down will unclip even easier. I must of course declare a commercial interest in Crank Bros of £100 commission on every £30 set sold.
Committee Alan McLean Posted January 3, 2010 Committee Report Share Posted January 3, 2010 Lance Stay away from JD snake oil. Big S has this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Shima ... 000000039/ Would it work? Alan
paul mcskimming
i'd advise against crank bros for mtb'ing as release angle is too extreme if you need out quick! 15 or 20 degrees dependant on which way round you put shoe plates. stick with spuds and use your brakes on those "fast" descents. Administrators Jannza Posted January 4, 2010 Administrators Report Share Posted January 4, 2010 I ride offroad with Shimano M520 as I like to stay clipped in up and downhill http://www.dooleys-cycles.co.uk/product ... ductID=467 or you may prefer Shimano M545 http://www.dooleys-cycles.co.uk/product ... ductID=
Al
i use the ones Alan has sent the link to. they work pretty well and you can never accidentally clip-in when you use the non clip-in side i went over Connick Hill and must admit i really liked the knowledge that i wasn't clipped-in on the descent into Balmaha. i'm not confident enough to be clipped in on really steep descents. downside - it is a slight pain having to spin the pedals to get the side you want, but guess there has to be some compromise. oh and HNY to everyone. al.
