  1. Hi Richie, I believe we can, Iain set up this new site and has effective control back in club hands as main admins. He explained we should have the power to reject any rogue entries, so if anyone spots something unusual then we could do something about it. Knowledge of the membership would be an advantage. I have offered to help in being added as co-admin although not very computer literate and will need to be shown what to do!
  2. That makes good sense Alex, helps tidy things up and properly launch the Club's new Strava site. JWCC official Strava appears to have some traction now, members should feel free to invite known JWCC members who have not yet transitioned.
  3. A cold morning start for the bunch of six riders who had gathered early in Bishopton for the traditional coast route. Welcome respite in BB, Largs before facing the wall that is the road up and over Fairlie Moor, tough climbing, never pleasant but you've got to face up to it every now and again!
  4. Will aim to go over West Glen Road to catch you all at the roundabout leaving Bishopton towards Westferry, if you are at Red Smiddy for 9.00 it will be approx. 9.10 at that point
  5. Joined. Much better, with the club badge/crest and contact details too! Hopefully this takes off and becomes our prime source of ride stats for all our regulars. cheers, Eric
  6. Dear Strava Admin An observation - We appear to have a new entrant under JWCC (AlexanderM) who has effectively blocked out activity for the past two days with hundreds of entries, and appearing as #1 on the leader board! Can such an entrant be deleted if there is no obvious connection? Maybe I'm wrong and this guy is everyone's mate and we'll see him out on the next bunch run! If so please accept my apologies.
  7. Have a bad cold right now but hopefully breathing clearer for the weekend, should be available to join in!
  8. James, looks like meet is at 10 in Bishy. I could heas through BoW and meet on Houston rd at the park about 9.30ish ? head down GT, pick any others up along way , Alex, DavidC?? cheers eric
  9. Interesting......and interested! (Beginners)
  10. Good brisk run this morning, enjoyed two up with AlanF to Largs, a brief spell of sun in the Largs area and Paul's masterclass in speedy puncture repairs chapters #1, #2 & #3!
  11. Irvine, out & back, for some entertainment??
  12. Hey George, Iain C had kindly opened the club rooms so this hardy bunch could stay warm as prep for the 0930 muster! it was a good ride despite some really poor conditions, wet and gloomy down by the coast. The original 4 riders (Billy, AlanF, PaulK(new) & me) saw the bunch grow to 8 by Bishopton and then drop again to 6 at Newark roundabout, James and Iain had joined us earlier, as Chung and Richard headed for the Clune. Remaining souls soldiered on into the murk and enjoyed the traditional relief provided by BB in Largs. Up West Kilbride drag, Dalry, Kilbirnie, track and home...not too bad really! Once you're wet, you're wet!
  13. minor technical point....no pedals should do it!
  14. 2017 bike arrives early ...... something to look forward to, I hope!
  15. A good sized bunch set of this morning with much brighter weather than yesterday (wouldn't be hard!) we even saw spells of sunshine closer to the coast and again going up Brisbane Glen later on. A speedy run at times broken up by more mechanicals then normal, Billy was an early casualty at the top of Bowfield, broken hanger(?), he limped home with no gearing mech and a floppy chain strung out over the big cog, hope you got on ok Billy. This was duly followed by Iain/Jan's stuck chain link, again he headed off from Largs for a slow solo run home stuck in the small ring! AlanT's chain coming off, and threatening to do so again. Charlie's crunching gears making uphill power almost impossible and my own set up getting stuck in the small ring because the shifter cable came loose (sorted on the road). Sorry if I missed anybody out in the list of calamities, it was hard to keep up with everything! Winter bike maintenance classes anyone? Oh yes, we had a most enjoyable bike ride, cracking autumnal weather again, a high speed run into Largs and a BB café stop, can't beat it.
  16. Thanks Chung, your advice and help with the moving parts is greatly appreciated!
  17. Plan to be there, probably at Bowfield.
  18. Another memorable day consisting of perfect weather for this time of year, stunning Scottish scenery and enjoyed with cycling friends. Lots of nice additional contributions at the 'drum up', already mentioned in the thread, thanks to all!
  19. Enjoyed the ride today in great conditions, BB stop welcome as usual, thanks to this morning's bunch!
  20. Thanks guys for the 'sewing bee' education! Enjoyed the route, nice pace, efforts well shared and getting home before the rain arrived a bonus!
