    Hi All

During Lockdown I’ve tried most of the various Apps - Tacxx, BigRingVR, RGT and Zwift. Only RGT allows uploading your own routes. But, for me it was a faff because you need 2 apps running and you need a subscription.

So, rather than trying to replicate Arran, why not choose  a course on Zwift and have a target time/effort  to complete it? For example it could be a group ride with a leader who has calculated that to meet the target we will, say, ride at 3w/kg to keep things in order. Happy to get into it in a couple of weeks. Certainly could be something to consider for the winter.

Taxc app lets you ride any route you have

  2. I have better number crunching software that I use from semi nerd Training Peaks Premium to full colour nerd WK05 software, so I have scatter  graphs in colour , every bar graph you can think off . I can track power, power at threshold power at V02 max , HR at threshold HR at V02 max power at 150bpm , Time to Exhaustion, fatigue resistance , muscle fibre type VO2 max left and right power analysts left and right power absorbed. And phenotype plus can analyse against segments so do I need to pay for Strava for my dose of nerdisum no not reallly , always found it more of a social inclusion thing

  3. When people give you Ride ons and thumbs up are you supposed to return these ? I ask because frequently I Zwift without glasses or contacts so can’t actually read the screen to see .

Secondly what’s your thoughts on eating , I never eat on the bike unless it’s going to be more than two hours and hard, however I have done some long turbos on Zwift and other apps I am thinking maybe a snack would help what are others doing, I know what your supposed to do just curious what the experienced Zwifters are doing

  4. Hi guys after this years Spain camp was thinking of doing the same , and trying to get a decent sized bunch out again.

I think it worked really well and everybody got what they wanted from it, the bonus of having Richie as the guide helps , so who’s in for next year

George, unless your turbo is badly calibrated then I don't think road feel makes any difference. It makes you change gears but power is same. Suggest you set up new account as a pixie or small elf.

Anyway you were riding fine last night, I only held on for twenty seconds after you so you must be in great shape.

Road feel is a Taxc Turbo thing it makes a difference as you feel the gravel , and the boards and have to put out more power to keep the same speed as you would do in the real world

re turbo resistance always has it at 100 so don’t know if it makes a difference, and don’t know it’s just a Taxc thing

Billy,  I continued and the "route" went left up a wee road. A few other jwcc were there continiuing but I collapsed at about 58 mins from start. Is it possible you went straight on a minute after the finish?

Alan sort of saw you was on the same bit of road but thought we were carrying on for a bit after so ended up doing 28 miles hoping for the end of the route

  7. Thought we were carrying on after 50 minutes, it appeared to me that after the first part of the climb most stopped didn’t see any one on the way up to the tower and then for another 10 miles stopped after 28 miles .

Did enjoy it though , but still a couple of patches of very sticky road especially on the downhills, just as well I bought a fan only lost 1.75 kilos tonight in sweat

Echoing David's comment, big thanks Iain. Looking ahead (post-Covid19) maybe it's possible to have club Races put on Zwift at some point, I noticed GGCC have a few 🙂

Would it not be better post lockdown to go outside and race to support your local race organiser , as Zwift is fun but it’s not racing

  9. Yet BC have put on a series of races on Zwift, there is also other research that suggest something different . It would be nice to actually get some clarity from the governing body, because just now it looks like is ok to race and dig deep if your joe public , but not if your SC Performance Program

  10. Since i have a bit more free time than planned I thought I would offer my congratulations to Coach Mul on winning the Scottish Cycling coach of the year , although I could never agree with Mul when I was a member , you have to give praise where it is due So👏👏👏👏👏👏well done Mul well deserved
