  10. Davy can I have please just took winter bike out of shed to have a look and it needs some stuff done to it!!! Cheers!!
  11. Thanks for the lift Davy! What are people doing route wise, I'm going go for the long one and add another 20km to get the 100 miles so might go back up and over the other side?!?!? Good to get numbers for each group? P.s I'm sorry in advance to whoever is sharing my hut, I snore like an overweight warthog with respiratory issues!
  12. Headwinds, tail winds, cross winds, Alan's bad wind in the café and echelon perfection. 5 premier elite athletes (Paul, Jan Alan and Andy) met in Howwood for a "Social" run. After a steady climb up the Bowfield Paul informed us into the real agenda for the run. A single pace line was formed and a Double Arran dry run was on the cards! Big crosswinds forced us into an Echelon (one that team sky would be proud of!) Some miles down the road Andy started to rant like a Director Sportif about placement in the echelon. He was duly reminded of this every time he was an inch out of line! Flying down to Muirkirk with Paul having a go at every Strava segment there was and into the Café. Someone asked for poached eggs and the reply came back "Fried!". After some food the lady kindly gave us a slice of tiramisu each, it was a lovely gesture but no one was sure how long it had been sitting?!?!? Out of the Café we climbed and then through and offed it to Howwod, where we split. Myself and Dr Mclean went back to Kilmacolm where I got some supplies then back to Houston. Now Jan has mentioned 30's. (I hope Paul hasn't wrote his report while I type this!) I won a lot of early sprints and then Paul went all Sagan and started eating them all up. Fortunately I had enough points in the bag to take the green jersey by a mere 1 point! Paul actually had time on two of the sprints to hold his bike aloft and walk over the line which he duly got deducted 10 points for each! Great day out lots of banter and I had a wee cry in the bath when I climbed off the bike! 100 miles, 18.4 avg speed. https://www.strava.com/activities/642660601

  14. Liking the interest guys! Going have a look at Erskine, would like a mainly traffic free route keep it safe!
  15. Go on Davie!! You know you want to see me!
  16. After the success of Jan's summer World Cup (a mish mash of rules so he could win something this year) I propose a Winter World Cup! Idea would be one night a week obviously not clashing with turbo or track league. Thursday's?? Meet at club room spin up to Kilbirnie industrial estate and then we have different options on the 1 mile circuit. 1. If there are enough bodies do an Italian pursuit race. 2. Through and off points idea? Sprint each lap and then double points for last lap. Bonus points if you breakaway and catch the group again! 3. Devil take hindmost, might be a bit cold for the people that get put out but once two or three are off then cycle in opposite direction through and off to get a work out? Obviously points, rules and what format of racing will be decided on how to get me the best possible chance of winning following Jan's system this year! Lights will be needed but it's a safe route on track and in industrial estate (some potholes) did this route in the winter! I'm prepared to get shot down, I thank you!
  17. Paul, it's just given when you come out we ride hard!!! Will there still be time for pumping? Just say go and we will go go go!
  18. Alan, Alex, Snoddy, Colin please don't come back! 3rd up the clune and a win on the Int sprint!!!! Charlie and Billy you are welcome anytime it gives me a longer rest at the top of the clune!!! Jan please refer to me as the enlightened one!!! Not my mere mortal name of Ross! I will be doing a signing at waterstones in Braehead on the book I wrote about my glorious return to last nights chain gang!
  19. I'm going put my trainers on for the clune!!! Just in case there is a motorbike!!
  20. I think you will find my friend Charles McCusker esq. is in my merry troop!!!
