Cheers for putting the boot in then slinking off, Couttie! Beautiful day in Renfrew but as we turned to ride over the swing bridge we encountered fog which dropped the temperature by 10 degrees. Anyway, didn't feel great all day so knew the hammer was coming- On the way back in things escalated quickly, guys getting shelled from moment we turned at the Blair restaurant. Went through a couple of times but knew I was out of my depth so sat in but the effort of going round guys being dropped soon took its toll. I eventually succumbed a mile and a half from lugton when I lost impetus by hitting a big pothole & couldn't close a gap of all of two metres. Could see some JWCC heading to Barrhead but turned off for home. Only my 2nd ride over 50 miles in last two months so happy enough with my effort.

Darryl, as the only person in the club who looks anything like a cyclist, you should be racing. I understand that fatherhood & snake breeding take precedence these days but if you were to reconsider I'd happily be your water carrier. Or Just drive you to events & shout at you every time you go past.

Yes a compact bunch this morning which soon dwindled to 3 idiots who were man/daft enough to grit it out in that wind. Does 3 constitute a bunch? Eventually got to largs & the bb followed by an all too brief tailwind & a spell about into Gourock where the wind became a cross wind. Totally blew going home past the airport & glad to see the back of Alex & Iain so I could shamble home by myself. 75 hard miles. FAO Mr R Cross- I hope it isn't a headwind drive from Brussels to Liege as I fear you may chuck it Man up!

Which means Charlie is flying & wants to knock it into us. Had several beers tonight so no thanks. Just have to suck up a kicking from an unusually sober billy on the morrow. Gulp.
