    Milan San Remo 2018

Found hotels in Nice - three triple rooms for two nights. Works out at £17 per person per night. Not too bad location wise either. We really need to sort numbers first and then get an evening sorted to plan. Count me in for MSR though!

I'm sure my post mentioned cheap hotels! I agree with all the sentiments, especially Billy's "no hostel" view. Given the time to book we should be able to find somewhere. Your hotel sounds good Paul.

    Milan San Remo 2018

After the London hostel and several low budget horror films set in hostels, I'm not interested in a hostel. I agree, no need for a posh hotel (it was an accident!!!). Plently of time to suss out cheap hotels.
  4. 50mm wheels were fine until between Clune summit and Kilmacolm. Sheer terror! Happy with the pace but I felt pretty out of control so had to back off. Starting forming some semblance of a bunch by BoW then Marc and I shared the work to the end. Feeling better with every ride!

Yep for me. 5 days sounds great. Nice is a great cycling spot too (as if anyone needs reminding)
  6. I'll see how work pans out today but have my bike and gear in car and I'll try and make it.
  7. Dunfermline RR on Saturday
  8. Joined the bunch in sunny conditions down to ferry before continuing on my own for some sunny miles. Major school boy error - hungover and only yesterday's empty water bottle for company... (fresh bottle left at home) Should have stopped somewhere for a refill but didn't. Largs then home via Brisbane Glen. Bumped into James at bottom of golf course climb. First gear malfunction at bottom of Whin Hill. Stuck in 11 tooth rear which would have killed me going up the Whin the way I was feeling. Took a while to realise battery retainer clip (on battery)had snapped so no contact. Swapped front and rear batteries and managed to get both to continue working for journey home. 54.8 miles in and punctured 2 miles from home. I was broken long before then anyway so phoned home for collection.... All in all a good day!!!

Ticket collector is judge and jury! I can remember when Jan and I were ahead and hammered up to collector to check we could still get on the ferry. Aye, no bother. Cheers! And we turned round and went back to the junction. Over the next five minutes another four JWCC arrived individually and asked him the same thing. All turned round and headed back to Brodick. The guy must have wondered what we were taking!

Actually managed to see some scenery coming out of Lochranza. Simply stunning. I've attached all the pictures I stopped to take...

I'll be on the 1105 home (hopefully!) as I've planned C11 on Sunday and need to be home as soon as I can. Happy if others want to carry on though. I'll just sit within a sweat induced exclusion zone on the ferry!
  12. Given the above, I've got a test ride in a S1000RR planned. Does anything on 2 wheels count?
  13. That was a kicking! And a strangely enjoyable one. Vision wasn't long distance enough to see who picked up any points! Good to see so many flying though. Bodes well for the rest of the season.

    Bike Box Alan

Paul, I've a box you can try and fit in your car with seats up. Its a bit smaller than the hire ones and has had a foil (56) in it many times without damage. (Touch wood)
  19. Robbie, pulled out. Sitting looking at the sunshine outside, but my head is bursting and legs feel like jelly. Not quite man flu but pretty serious! Hope it goes well for you at Fenwick. Lovely up hill finish for you too. Just try and keep big Alan and Paul McD's group at bay! Good luck all!
  20. Cheers for write up Colin. Hope you're okay James.
  21. Good luck guys. I made myself much worse after Tuesday TT and my head cold developed into a chest infection. Had hoped to shift it in time for weekend, but nope. Went for an unusually sensible approach and withdrew from this weekend to let it shift. Look forward to hearing how it went. C'mon the JWCC!
  22. I'll come along for a bit, just to sing Happy Birthday.
