carol cowan got a reaction from chung in Sunday 30th Oct Tour of Renfrewshire & Iverclyde
Good turnout today for a run punctuated by punctures and cattle hold ups. A thorn in the front wheel was followed later by a thorn in the rear wheel.Just needed a chain snap to complete the set, but managed to get home without further mishap. Thanks for waiting at the cafe stop guys and girls and well done to Ernie and John on their first bunch run.It is not always like this. Met Graham and Jane for a chat also.

Thanks to everyone for a very entertaining evening indeed, it was good to see folks getting "hands-on" with their bikes!
I too picked up a few tips from others during last nights session :-)
I hope this will at least give people some confidence in working around their bikes, & lets all help to eradicate dodgey mud-guards situation :-)
P.S - Just want to illiterate the importance on fitting a "chain catcher" to your bike frames (as stressed to David & Eric last night) it's a simple/cheap device but essential to prevent the chain jamming between your frame & chainrings ........... ask Paul Leavy :-)
Till the next time then ................
Cheers

Jaki, looking at the other posts, is it ok to get you at Amaretto's in Bridge of Weir at 8.30ish and we can meet up with Chung and others. We are coming from Houston and it will save us doubling back. Carol

Good turnout for the 30 milers today, 14 in total and well done to the first time Sunday bunch riders and returners. The Dalgarven Mill is very cycle friendly and did well to cope with the influx of bodies at that early time. Offered to fill water bottles and and gave a free entrance to the museum. Got a soaking on the way home but still a good day out.
I can confirm that Alan Mac broke his chain at Morrisons and phoned his bike recovery vehicle (wife) to come and collect him.
Thanks to everyone.

That was a good ride this morning :-) Big bunch, lots of mechanical (well, mostly it was Alan's GMA73 :-)) a new cafe/museum for me .........
Thanks for the wheels today boys & girls, caught up with a few old faces & met some new ones ......... well done to Beth for digging in & got back to base in the end.
Thanks to David for posting the route, excellent choice!
I heard Alan had a snapped chain on the way home, hope all is well & you got back ok! I didn't see any chain tool or "quick links" etc in your tool bottle ........ could be a long walk home? :-)
A bit wet & filthy by the time I got home, but bagged 100km despite the sh"ty weather towards the end, pretty chuffed.
Cheers
