  1. Hi Graeme, the intermediate paces average about 16-18mph but it can vary. In a bunch you will be pulled along so don't just judge what your solo pace is as it will be higher in a bunch. Sundays run includes quite a long steep hill out of Helensburgh but we normally regroup at the top of climbs as no one gets left behind. if you are feeling apprehensive, there may be a 30miler group run being posted for this Sunday. which is a slightly slower pace and is usually a good starting point for newbies. Keep an eye on the posts. Cheers Dave
  2. I have promoted myself to intermediate Captain for this week. Not been over to the north side of the river for a while, so how about Clubrooms 9am Georgetown Rd to Erskine Bridge - Dumbarton - Cardross to Helensburgh. Sinclair Street over to Arden - Duckbay to Balloch and coffee stop. Back to bridge via Bonhill and cycle track avoiding A82. A fairly flattish route except for Sinclair St of about 55miles. Who's out. Dave
  3. Good turnout today for a run punctuated by punctures and cattle hold ups. A thorn in the front wheel was followed later by a thorn in the rear wheel.Just needed a chain snap to complete the set, but managed to get home without further mishap. Thanks for waiting at the cafe stop guys and girls and well done to Ernie and John on their first bunch run.It is not always like this. Met Graham and Jane for a chat also. Dave
  4. Clubrooms 9am ( remember extra hour in bed). How about a tour about the shire with some lumpy bits. Mudguards should be on parade. Crosslee, Georgetown Road, Red Smiddy Bishopton, Ingliston, West Glen Road to Kilmacolm. Auchentiber Rd to Gateside Road.Phils Folly to Lochwinnoch and coffee stop at Castle Semple Loch. Options to return via Howwood or Kilbarchan. Please post up if coming out. Run Captain Dave
  5. Thanks to Chung and the others for an entertaining and educational night. Shared knowledge only helps to enhance the whole biking experience and Chung is the King of it. Another great night with the Wheelers. Carol & Dave
  6. Jaki, looking at the other posts, is it ok to get you at Amaretto's in Bridge of Weir at 8.30ish and we can meet up with Chung and others. We are coming from Houston and it will save us doubling back. Carol
  7. Going to the Drum up to Loch Eck this Sunday...see thread If anyone wants to post an alternative run then please do so, or option to cycle to Gourock Ferry and return or drive/train to Ferry and cycle to drum up and back to Sandbank. Dave
  8. Planning to meet the 10.am Ferry. Anyone else leaving from the clubrooms at 8.30am to head along the cycle track to the Clune and can meet Graham and Gerard at 9.15.. May bring a veggie burger. Carol and Dave
  9. Good turnout for the 30 milers today, 14 in total and well done to the first time Sunday bunch riders and returners. The Dalgarven Mill is very cycle friendly and did well to cope with the influx of bodies at that early time. Offered to fill water bottles and and gave a free entrance to the museum. Got a soaking on the way home but still a good day out. I can confirm that Alan Mac broke his chain at Morrisons and phoned his bike recovery vehicle (wife) to come and collect him. Thanks to everyone. Run Captain Dave
  10. If the weather is dry on Sunday how about heading to Dalgarven Mill for a coffee. Clubrooms 9am Track to Kilbirnie, Industrial Estate to cross A737 to MOD road. Auchenmead farm and then head for Kilwinning. Options on return Mixture of flat and rolling hills.Suitable for all. Dave

Rest carried on to Dunlop Dairy where it it was the first time I have seen cheeseboards taken as a coffee stop. Thanks for the company guys and girls and hope for similar weather in weeks to come. Dave

  13. See Intermediates thread to Dunlop Diary or if anyone wants to post an alternative route, please feel free to do so. Dave
  14. Alan. I am actually the 30milers Run Captain, but flirt between both. Anyway was thinking of heading back to Dunlop Dairy for a coffee stop. Route would be Bowfield Hill, Gateside. Barmill, Auchentiber, Bloak Road and branch off left to Dairy. Could return via Dunlop, Lugton, Beith, Lochwinnoch and possibly Johnshill to Bridge of Weir making it approx 45 miles. Sensible pace, regroup at hills etc and lots of bail out options to shorten: suitable for all. Clubrooms : Miller Street 9am. Run Captain Dave
