  1. Cheers Ramsay. I did a double-take at the results table myself. I thought Jannza who was helping time-keep may of needed fresh batteries in her stopwatch, it felt like a fast 24 at best. I'll be interested to see what you can acheive there next tuesday after you past me at warp speed on the cycle path last week! Aye Richard, that was with tri bars. BIG difference! Mind, i did have half a dundee cake in my bag waiting for me on my return, hence the rush. Looking forward to the next one, never imagined swimming in lactic acid could be so fun.
  2. I wont be out tonight as i'm down for the Margaret Dooley 10 TT tommorow night. Have fun all, and see you next week. Ben
  3. I'm in. Could someone please tell me where to meet or if anyone may be riding out from Johnstone and could show me the way i'd be gratefull.
  4. I would give this a crack next thursday. Keen to try out this apr lark.
  5. I'm looking for some clip on aero bars to increase my TT velocity. My bar is old size, i think 26mm ish ( not oversize) . Anybody want to offload on me ? Drop me a line and name ya price. Cheers, Ben.
  6. Great day out. Particuarly enjoyed the tractor rally and the stench of slurry in the nostrils. Cheers for the help with chain guys, I went to Dales enroute home and got some missing links, handy things. (will reimburse you next time Davie, thanks again) I have'nt stopped eating since I got home, sure sign of a hundred miler. See you soon.
  7. There'll be an ice cream shop in Inverary won't there? I'm game if you'll have me along. This rides got 'Butchers Bike' written all over it. Bell, panniers, pipe and slippers. Ain't never snapped a chain on that Bad Boy, I tell ya Mark! Ps: Sorry to digress again Kenny but, ..... Who is Dirk Hoffman? Did he make BMX frames?
  8. Sounds like a good ride, hope the weather is as good as last Sunday. I'm not a definate, will see how my legs feel after a 10m TT at Westferry and a shift at work on Saturday . No stress about the bottle Phil. I keep finding them on roadsides and bringing em' home to clean so got a cupboard full. Bit of a pikey that way. Hope to make it Sunday. Nos Vemos.
  9. I'll be there tonight. Like Greg, I have a 10m TT on Saturday morning so maybe a solo ride best for me too. Looking forward to it, see you all later.
  10. Ps: I was on my new steed Ian M. My butchers bike (How dare you!) is in A&E receiving treatment to a mangled bb.
  11. Fantastic ride yesterday. Cheers Ian for route planning, I'm loving those roads over the moors. Next time we pass through Largs I'm getting an ice cream from Nardini's, I cannot resist its call for much longer. looking forward to tommorow nights TT action. See y'all then.
  12. Hi Ian I'm game for 9.30. See you in the mañana. Ben.
  13. Cheers guys. I had a lot of fun so more races on the cards for sure. Well done finding that photo Kenny, I had to laugh at my own gurning!
  14. A good race for my baptism in competitive cycling. The 'B' race of this latest Super 6 event took us 30 miles around the Rosneath peninsula. First 10 miles or so a steady drag up hill reaching the top of the military road to Coulport when it started raining. The fast descent made super sketchy by spray and the need to brake for the sharp left at the bottom. The field had petered out at this point and I just kept with the lead bunch all the way round. I spent I while on the front but willingly as I did not want to get trapped in the inside in the case of an early breakaway. I need'nt of bothered though as it came to a sprint finish with 200 m to go. I pushed too early and could'nt muster an all-out sprint at the end finishing 15th or so. Will check the results later. I was suprised by how many strong guys were in that B race, makes me appreciate the fitness of the pro's now andhow tight it must be at the top. Some SWEET hardware on display too, not least my own! Ha ha. The only steel frame that i could see and my trusty Brooks, - you can keep you're £150 Fizik job. Copper rivets everytime! Good to see David Thompson there and look toward to seeing him on his new Ribble at the next Super 6. Bring it on, Mon the Joansin'!
  15. Kenny has come to my rescue! Thanks a lot for the offer though Greig. I am riding the Rosneath Super 6 B race. Can't wait!
  16. Does anybody have a JWCC jersey they could loan me for this weekend. Size L (I'm a 42" chest ) I can collect from anywhere before Saturday and return next week washed, offcourse.I have a race on Sunday and want to represent the mighty Joansin' ! Cheers , Ben
  17. Just a quick line to wish the bold souls riding the Flanders Sportive the best of luck on Saturday. Hope the rain and pinch-flats stay at bay, not to mention the bonk, - you can never have too many flapjacks in your pockets (but you can easily sink too many Trappist beers!) Wish I could of joined you, maybe next year. Look forward to hearing your tales, God Speed!!! Ben.
  18. Hi folks, I just wanted to share with you some lessons i've learned in aquireing those elusive ebay 'bargains'. A winter spent building up a 531 frame (Cheers Willie) and sourcing every component from ebay, i have found that the auction items that end on a weekday afternoon tend to go for much less than the items that end on a sunday evening when every bike freak is home and has the time to watch and bid. Also, i think on lower value items like used front mechs and stuff like that, if you need it, just put a big bid in late on in the auction to ensure you get it. You'll save time in the long run than if you loose the auction and have to look for another one. Forgive me if all this seems obvious. I have the time in the day as i work nights, so that too has helped in my ebay success. The bargains are there, i promise. Brand new Dura Ace 7800 Chainset and rings for £73!!! Happy Days indeed! Good luck and Happy Biding!
  19. Hi Ian, I too received my licence but did not sign the book. Thankyou for bringing that down. Regards, Ben.
  20. Big thanks again to all in that 9.45 bunch who kept me in check. I must off made a few of you nervous with my messy style and zero bunch-riding skills so your patience and advice was much appreciated. I had a lot of fun on sunday and can still feel the Ayrshire grit in my eyelashes. Roll on sunday and Reliabillity #3 Richard, heres my number if you fancy a ride on friday. 07876014817. I'll pm you know to make sure you got it. Hasta la Vista. Agent Orange - Ben.
